Sure as hell doesnt feel like it sometimes but they all even out. I have had just as good wins as bad beats. Having said that, I have had more crazy shit happen in the nba than anywhere. Once lost a game that I was catching 5 ande the dog was up by 20 entering the 4th. My boys scored 12 in the 4th and the rest is history. BTW I no longer bet NBA, fuck them:thefinger

Easy answer...........

Had a 15 team parlay....yes that's right a 15 team parlay....15 bucks would have paid just under 35 grand.

Down to last game.......had under 14.5 in a Rockies baseball game.

It was 10-0 heading into bottom of ninth. It went like this, never forget it:

Strikeout....one out

Solo Home Run 10-1

Strikeout.....two out

Walk

Walk

Walk

Grand Slam

Final Score 10-5

Never forget that. Had about 30 people cheering for me in the Sports Book (was in Stateline, NV).

Oh well....all evens out right......bullshit:mj07:

It would be easy for me to say last night with my parlay and the 11k that did not get sent my way with the Tampa game but when I was a bit younger and incredibly stupid I ran one of my accounts up to an ungodly number never really thinking about what that number really meant. I proceeded to put 11k on a game, it lost, I realized for the next few days how messed up that was then had to find a summer job. Probably the stupidest thing I've ever done during my time in gambling. I can say that that experience really helped me down the road to value a dollar and to manage a bankroll. It was a lesson in what not to do.
And... never bet on a knuckleballer lol

My worst beat had nothing to do with amount wagered, but the simple fact that it was happening right before my eyes as I was at the game.

Oregon @ Houston football 2005
I am sitting on two team parlay:
Oregon -8
Under 59.5
Score is Oregon 38-21 with 1:30 to go and Oregon has ball on own 40 running the clock out.
Oregon fumbles and that was just the beginning.
Houston runs two draws up the middle(conceding the game) for about 15 yards and clock is down to around 8 seconds now on the 25. They hurry up and spike it. I figure they are gonna take a crack at the endzone, but no.

DOWN 38-21 U of H coach Art Briles sends out the FG team with 6 seconds left on 2nd down. WHAT????

Kick good FINAL OREGON 38-24 and UNDER is a loser.
The shock never wore off to this day.

This is one my buddy told me........it always made me die laughing when he told the story. I'll try to do it justice.......

The teams I will try to get right......but I think it was the 76ers and Bullets (tells you how long ago this was).....and my buddy had the Bullets +14.5 points.

With about 5 minutes left in the game, the Bullets are winning the game OUTRIGHT by 20 points. Then the collapse starts. The 76ers whittle the lead all the way down to 3 points, and foul "Never nervous" Pervis Ellison with 2 seconds left. If he makes 1 of two, its game over. Of course he misses both, and a half court shot swishes to send the game to OT.

But still...no big deal right? He's getting 14.5 points. How many OT games do you know of ends with one team beating another by 15 or more? Well the Bullets continued to play awful. With 15 seconds left, the Bullets are down 13 and take a shot.....they miss. The rebound goes to Brian Oliver. He dribbles the ball upcourt, seemingly just dribbling out the clock. Everyone starts handshakes and starts walking off the court....but young Mr Oliver had other thoughts. With about 3 seconds left, he starts to dribble straight to the goal, and dunks it as time expires. The 76ers win by 15. I dare someone to top this one.

My buddy said the TV went out his second story window that night.

One of them I remember was the Bills vs. the Pats maybe around 98 or 99. The Pats drive for the winning td, Ben Coates I think. Buffalo refuses to stay on for the extra point and then Pats run it in for a 2 point conversion without 1 defensive player. It went from a push to a lose.

to many bad memories to dig up :mj07:

There was a real sports episode a few years back about a gambler who was in really deep and he chased his losses with his house morgage and everything he had on a Atlanta Braves vs Mets over total. the Robin Ventura walk off grandslam single game...... he lost because the Mets mobbed him instead of letting him run the bases :scared :scared The poor guy said he went up to the train tracks near his house and layed down and waited for a train to come that never came.......

I guess my worst bad beat has happened in overtime games where the dog laid down and the favorite covered. I remember Mike Vick screwing me when I had the Vikings as dogs. I think I was getting +5, and Vick made an incredible run from field goal range for the touchdown and the loss of my cover. My story doesn't compare though to the ones already posted!! :scared

Some more good shit.
I was hoping some responses might cheer me up from the brutality that I experienced Monday (cough-choke, and again on Wednesday).
They did. It's nice when some of your expectations actually materialize.

Guess I've had my share. Both ways. Been doing this long enough to slap the man around, a few times, and also to either be way off base or to have something that looked great--late--only to be taken away by fate. Some of the posts remind me...had basket teams at +10, or more, hoping for a finale in regulation, and then see my team dissappear in OT. Had bogus garbage points--in whatever sport--funk a good-looking total or spread.

I suppose it does all even out in the end.
Do this for awhile and we'll all have several memories of major late-screws. Part of the program, I suppose. Still difficult to take, at times, depending, perhaps, on other life circumstances.

I've had baseball teams blow 5-6 run leads, rather late. I can't remember seeing a 10-run lead blown, at least not with as big a wager as I had on the fRays. 7-run bottom of the 9th is, again, par for the course, I suppose.

My biggest wager of the '09 season came yesterday, however. Figured the Jays might actually win on my birthday, like that means shit. Freakin' 8-2 lead. 8-3 bottom of 8 after Doc is gone. Didn't the Jays have the best BP in BB last year? Sheet. That was stressful. Bonehead pitching move by Gaston bottom of 8 didn't help matters (replaced a lefty with a lefty, while he had righty Frasor working in the pen at the time). Lead down to 8-6 then see-ya. Frasor works scoreless bottom of 9 and 10, just to demonstrate my point. Even the 2-run shot top of 11 wasn't enough. I just knew--somehow--bottom of 11, when they brought in has-been Ryan, that it was done. Out, hit, replaced...Wolfe...go to hell.

Goofy thing about it--true story--I made money both days, Monday and Wednesday (had the 1st5, in both games mentioned). Actually won 3 straight, and 5 out of 6, currently. Doesn't freakin' matter. Both losses were a major swing on my bankroll. Been doing well for 6-8 months so I guess I needed a slap (or two) to remind me just what the real deal is. This (minor) winning streak feels like a losing streak due to this B.S.

Probably been hurt worse, but I'd put the Rays loss at #3 on my list, perhaps because it's so recent in memory.

#2 would be a Colts game back in late 2000--week 13, where I hit every-freakin-thing else. Was my last stretch playing Sports Select, up here in Kanada, where you gotta play 3-teams minimum--more to really cash--and the lines are McGrim. Made more than $700 that day so it was no big deal. Still, had the Colts -3.5 (never, ever, will I play a football game -3.5!), based on their goofy lines, and the Colts won by 3. Cost me around $1500 on a number of tickets. Can't even remember who they played. Could look it up but who cares? Par for the couse. I cashed good so WTF. Still remember, however.

Getting long and drawn out here, as usual, so I'll skip the #1. Kind of personal, regardless. Only about $500 in total, anyway, but it was more other circumstances that makes it stick out in my mind. Just for laughs, I'll simply mention that after this burnage (including Pedro, o-Boston, losing a game 1-0), I thought that some 'tang might help me forget about it. Only could find some ugly (once close-up...oops) skank who turned out to be a real bitch. To make a long story short(er), I bailed on her and she found me later--only time I've ever had a woman throw a drink in my face. I can laugh about it now. Sorta. Couldn't even make it home from campus. Had to call someone close to me to come save me. Kind of like the Blind Faith tune,

and I'm wasted and I can't find my way home

Not so much the money, but the memory.
I guess that's what I counting on in responses, which was obviously likely. Like me, you've all probably been burned more times than you can remember. Those memories that do remain are what interests me.

I need something other than the sports, right now.
It's not happening.
Got one close friend who just got cancer and another who just got diabetes.
I've lost enough people over the last 2-3 years.
This is bullshit.
If there actually is a god (which I would bet big against), then all I can say is that she is an underachiever.

That's about all I can say.
You'll have to forgive my politically incorrectness but it was my 41st, Wed, and I've had more to drink than is usually warranted.
Taking a break come June (did the same Jan.)
Gives me about 90 more hours of slammage...give or take unlikely sleeping periods.

May the force be with you.
Hittin' the fridge for another.

Thanks, again.
It helps.

P.S.
$11,000 on game I can't imagine.
Getting funked on a game, at that number, would be something that would stick with ya.

Looks like I'm sleeping through our early games.
If I can.

I like tempa (-109) and the Metrodome game under9 (-105), for what it's worth.

GL always

I seem to remember that game, was it the first week or two of the season?

It was the first game of the season for both teams and the kicker was a freshman so I guess that is why he did it. It was on a Thursday night ESPN game at Reliant Stadium.

For me personally, its easy. It was the early 90's shortly after they put in OT to college football. USC getting, I believe 9, versus ASU. As a poor college student with too much faith in my school and owing too much to my local bookie, I took SC plus the points and celebrated as the game went into OT. Only to see ASU score a TD then scoop up our QB's fumble and run back for a 13 point OT victory. Didnt that f*ck head Sun Devil realize the game was over if he just fell down as opposed to scampering 75 yards to score?

In 30+years I've has my share of great and terrible endings, but here are my top two.In the 80's,Dolphins v Raiders. The line was 2 points,I had the Raiders who were covering going into the last play of the game, which started on approx the 30 yd line farthest from the Miami endzone.Marino throws a 15 yard pass to one of the Marks brothers(duper and Clayton) to the righthand sideline of the field.Jack Tatum blasts the intended receiver into the next time zone, but the ball ricocets off his helmet literally 20 yds across the field right into the hands of another miami receiver,in stride with nobody between him and the goalline. There was no skill invovled with that play,no reason, just luck. The second one I had the Bears +2- v Dallas, losing by nine and with no hope of scoring because McMahon was hurt and Rusty Leech was qb and he was entirely ineffective that day.with 2 minutes left,Dallas punts from poor field position and the Bears take over from the 30 something going in! Hope flickers! The Cowboys perform two roughingthe passers on old Leech, and suddenly they are throwing the ball into the endzone from inside the ten on the last play of the game,Willie Gault is open in the front corner of the endzone, about 6-8 feet in,the pass is somehow on the mark and Gault inexplicably comes out of the endzone to make the catch and runs out of bounds at the 6 inch line,no one on him.Game over and I hated that man for the rest of his playing days. Its not a game for kids in short pants, sports handicapping..........
