What the hell happened to David Duval?

Just two years ago this week he won the British Open. He was at the top of the golfing world, annointed as the next rival to Tiger. He shoots 59 in one PGA tournament. Nike signs he and Tiger to huge endorsement deals, he even had his own ball for a while.

This guy is off the map now. Shoots 83 and withdraws from the GHO. I'm no superstar but I shot 81 from the tips at a championship course a month ago. 83???

I could not think of an athlete that was at the top like he was then fell off the face of the planet so fast. 4 cuts in 17 events this year.

Hes got el hosel, the laterals, the s word. His issues have to be betwen his ears, talent doesnt leave you.

David Duval is recovering from vertigo.

It is amazing that he is still even playing. They did a special on him during the British open talking about how he sometimes see's 3 or 4 balls when he swings and how vision is constantly distorted. He shot a 62 earlier this year but just to keep on playing like he is trying is an amazing feat.

Watched Duval test titleist drivers out at the course where I work in April of 99. His tee shots were awsome. To me it is crazy that he is playing this bad. Duval has lived a very hard life outside of golf. Lost a younger brother early in life and now, and seperated from his girl friend of 8 years in 2002. For a private person I think events of that nature make it harder to do the day to day things that need to be done to play good golf. I sure wish him the best and hate to see him play bad. :confused:
