Lately I've been consuming a lot of calories probably about close to 3000 per day divided into about 4 meals and gained some weight that I was looking to get. I'm about 185-190lbs was 175lbs, I lift 4 times a week for an hour and box 3 times a week for about 2 hours. I gained some fat on my stomach, I have at least a quarter inch of fat covering my abs and you can't tell that I have a 6 pack unless I flex, but even if I flex it's not really defined. I also haven't done abs in about 2 months due to several broken ribs at boxing practice, but I started 2 weeks ago and it doesn't look like my abs are progressing.

What do you guys do for great abs?

What did I win Mama????? I suppose now when I come to Toronto I will have to buy you a Michelob Ultra Lite Ant!!!!

let me think for a bit on the prize there sweetie :) but NO, you will NOT have to buy me anything even ALONG the line of beer....LOL...........ewwwwwwwwwwwww (a rum and coke on the other hand...hmmmmmm)

was just saying you won, cuz beer puts some MEAT on the bones of men who for some strange reason seem to think that women (percentage wise) would prefer muscle. and i'd be willing to bet any one of you gamblers that 70% of all women, no matter WHAT shape they are in, would prefer to curl up with a cuddly, soft, teddybear ;)

Roman sit-ups. GAURANTEE that you will have a 8(thats right, the hard to get ones) pack stomach in 6 weeks.....as long as you eat right. The thing about being cut is all about what ya eat....

But if ya watch what ya eat....the roman sit-ups are the most fastest way EVER. And you never really hear much about this workout cuz its a bitch and it really takes alot out of ya...

I have been reading and lifting weights for the last 15 yrs. Hers is what I have learned.................If you want to get cut and drop bodyfat do..........

Try to do 30-45 minutes of cardio in the morning on an empty stomach.(4-5 days a week)
Cut your calories down to like 2200.............
I dont care what anyone says..........to drop bodyfat you must drop pounds........if your not dropping pounds, youre not losing bodyfat........when I am dropping bodyfat I try to eat only salad, lean meat and vegetables.(and remember lots and lots of water)...........I know it sucks but remember you can have a few cheat days along the way as long as you dont overdue it. Also it is a good idea to keep lifting as this keeps your metabolism going as you drop lbs. Doing sit ups are great if youre already lean but IMO it doesnt help that much unless a person loses the bodyfat first. I have seen guys roll off 100's of sit ups over and over but you still cant see their abs because they are covered up by a layer of fat. So what you get are strong abs but not defined abs. Good Luck.................Losing weight was one of the hardest things I ever accomplished but not nearly as hard as trying to pick winners cosistently. I often think if I spent half the time working out as I do trying to beat -1.10.......I would could lose 10yrs off my age..

all right, Ill give you a legit answer. I used to work at EAS and got this ? all the time. The secret to great abs is not any one sort of ab exercise. Everyone has decent abs..underneath their flab.

Its all about bodyfat percentage?? Meaning get leaner!! Most people cant see their abs till around 8-10% bodyfat, and thats pretty lean. The average guy is arond 18%. You could do crunches all day but if youre at 15% bodyfat , youll never see your abs.

So instead of concntrating on specific ab movements concentrate on eating real well, no junk food or sugar. And to help you lean up ,cut out carbs after maybe 3 or 4 in the afternoon. I see you were trying to gain weight but you want to gain muscle, not fat. So make sure you keep up your protein intake and cut out carbs late in the day. Hope this helps.

Canadian dudes...

These guys here have got it down pat...only way to make those abs shine is to get that fat %age down...
I LMFAO at people who say "I do 500 situps a day but I still don't have that six-pack look!"
A) that's because u ain't eating right, and B) u don't need to do 500 situps to get rock hard abs.
U just have to train with intensity - curls, roman chair, crunches, twists .... if u do just 10 mins on your abs 4 x a week but squeeze out and hold those reps until they friggin burn, and u eat right, you'll be grating cheese on them soon...
I've been hitting the weights and concentrating on the diet since mid-Jan and already the results are starting to show at least a little...better plan on hauling a$$ over to next year's SB party so we can compare.... :D

get yourself some stock in starkist tuna and then start chowing down.
Cut the carbs, jack up the protein levels.
Then push the cardio workouts.... in my experiences, an hour on the stair master does the best job. Throw in some flutterkicks, and hello dollys and you should be good to go.

Also, Last year I picked up a workout book from Mens Health they published for a lil while. A 6 phase workout they put together gradually building you up over the course of about 6-8 months. I did it for abouut 4 straight months and jacked my bench up almost 50 pounds and cut 5% body fat out. Its a GOOD workout, and its FAST. 45 -60 minutes 3 days a week and best of all, every 3 weeks or so it changes the routine so you dont get bored out of yoru mind doing it.

THis post and all the "lose wieght" "get fit" books in the world can be summed up in 4 words. EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE.

What to eat? The fad of the moment seems to be low carbs. Last fad was on no Sat. Fat. Before that it was anti-sugar.

Life is short. Eat what you want, just a little less. Fit in a little more exercize and you will see your results.
