This topic is refering to woodpony thread. He only needs the cubs in order to cash a parlay and he didnt knew what to do, go all the way or bet the other side, well here is what i think. First of all it all depends on what kind of player you are, woodpony do this for a living, so I guess that you should always go the safe way. On the other hand some people told him that whats the point to bet a parlay if you do that. I always have though this, I see how people on my sportsbook do this on NFL or NBA they bet the early games, lets say a 15 dlls 4 teams parlay to win 150 + your 15, so they bet 3 early sides or totals, then bet any side of the night game, and then they say this "in case i win all three games i would bet the other side 80 bucks that way i dont lose my money even i won 70 + 15, or 72 - 15. For me that is the most stupid thing, because you can bet a 15dlls three teams parlay to win 90 + 15, you will end with 105 that way you can bet the night game 20dlls (remember that 70+15 is the better thing to happen after you split the bet) and you can play for "free" with the possibility to earn 38 more dollars. I guess that it also depends on the amount of money and on how many teams you bet, (its not the same to bet a 20 dlls 5 teams parlay to win 400, that bet a 150 dlls 2 teams parlay to win 390) because when you only bet 20 you can bet 100, 150 or even 200 on the other side, but if you bet 150 you need to think about how much you risk and you need to bet at least 165 in order to brake even. What are you guys opinions?.

My post was concerning a possible hedge, that could be a safe way not to lose. Morris is a good pitcher and when I made the original bet I factored that in, but after reading other post and seeing respectful cappers on the Cardinals and having already won game 1 of the parlay, I thought it would be a good idea to see what the board thought about a hedge. while I was thinking this out, the Braves cashed and the Redsox also won, giving me 3 wins - instead of the 1 win that was parlayed with the Cubs. That made my decision not to hedge and let the parlay ride, because now I only had to win 2 of the 3 remaining games to make a profit Cubs, LA & Texas. I in no means wanted to or had a thought of hedging Texas or LA. I made the right decison and won money for the day. Some guy's find this to be confussing and want to argue. Fletcher is one of the top cappers on the net and asked peoples opinions on Saturday concerning the Astros, after he read them - he made is decision. No big deal and thanks to the ones that helped and to the others that do not understand, thanks anyway.

i think a better picture of what goes on is this:

yesterday there was a bunch of 1 0'clock games.

you're planning on placing wagers on 1 o'clock games.

Atl., Phil., Flor., Bost. under 9, NYY and Hou.

that would be six individual wagers on six single games.

then you happen to look down the daily card and see some nice 8 o'clock games. in fact Texas catches your eye.

so if you take the 6 singles you would have ended up 3 - 3 but $$ out of pocket.

however, if you had taken each of those early games and married it up with texas, you would have given yourself an opportunity to come out on the positive side of things. in a fairly significant way too, i might add.

capping to me is all about finding a way to give yourself that opportunity to win. gain that winning edge.

so to me, it makes no sense to take a 1 o'clock game and not find an 8 o'clock game to stick it (them) on. if you get scared at 7:30 about your 8 o'clock game, go ahead, hedge out. i wouldn't, but again, the opportunity exists. and that's the key. the opportunity exists. you still have some live plays.

the trick, as i play it, is to only marry up to ONE late game.
