I have the Marlins 55-1 to win the National League and 100-1 to win the World Series. I have 1 unit on each of these. When would you begin to hedge these bets? I was going to hold off posting this for fear of jinxing the Floridians but i'm going to post and then cheer my ass off the last 7 games. Go Fish!

I happen to think that San Francisco is the worst possible matchup for them if they can get into the postseason. That is who they would have to play in the first round so right off the bat i would be looking to hedge a small amount at some point in the first round.

What are your thoughts?

If Florida wins tonight (up 6-0 in the third as I type), they'll have a one game lead with six games to go. I would take it day by day, and not consider hedging until they are trailing Philly in the standings, if that happens. Otherwise, wait and then just hit the Giants for the series if that's the matchup.

robbo...i agree that this seems like a tough match-up for this team.....but much crazier things have happened...just the fact that you have the marlins at those odds and they have made the post-season is amazing.....great call...but to more important things..

if they marlins go down 2-0...you may want to start looking into hedging....tough to win being down 2-0 in the best of 7....now have to win 4x in 5 games...thats tough IMO...

not much you probably didnt know...LOL

best of luck....

It's only a 5 game series so being down 0-2 is real tough. They are playing outstanding ball and i would not be surprised to see Beckett come up with a gem tomorrow. I love this Marlin team. A guy like Pierre could really have a big series bunting and slapping his way around the basepaths. I think they can handle whoever comes out of the other series. In my opinion San Fran is the best team out there so this one will be the toughest.

What are your thoughts on the BoSox series?

sorry ROBBo...forgot it was best of 5 in first round...real tough call regarding a hedge in such a short series...

BOSOX...to me game 1 of the sox series may be the biggest determing game in all of the series...they absolutely need to take game 1 with pedro....if they dont they are in big big trouble...wakefield is going in game 2...which baffles me that they have more confidence in a knuckler than lowe...i know the arguments that have been made for lowe in game 3....but i think in such a short series you pitch your best pitchers as many times as possible....plain and simple...

with all that being said....if the theory of good pitching and defense wins in the playoffs is to hold true..then that would dictate boston and atlanta making early exits..not saying i agree just pointing out ..

also ..keep in mind that boston has struggled in low scoring games this year..which to me spells trouble..

but my heart is with em'..

best of luck ROBBO

Odds

Odds

seem good for a pretty good team, that has hit it's stride, and are not a bunch of quiters.

I played Oakland this morning at 10 to 1 to win the series...they played great ball the last month or so, and if they can get past the Bosox tonight, they seem to play the Yanks very tough...
