Nosigar This guy is my fav journalist and as sharp as I've seen bar none. He is in 4 person panal on Britt Hume show occasionally and other members sit there and cringe when its his time to speak hoping he does not contradict them--but when he does it is in respectful manner and he never tries to embarrass them.

Doctor, your arguments against the victims is heart wrenching. I think your post and non answer to the Iragi question I posted proves you put corporations before Ameicans. It doesn't matter if you have contemp for poor people or not, my tax dollars are spent so that agencies like FEMA and Homeland Security work. We now see that they are full of incompetent cronies, drawing a nice salary from our tax dollars, but you don't find that alarming?

for some reason we are not headed in that direction as Bush, Clinton, Bush Sr. all have been increasing government size and inefficiency in the last 20 years
you want real compassion? take away the umbilical cord, so that these people have a fighting chance
will that happen? definitely not...we will instead get an extra line of red tape, bureaucracy, committees, oversight agency which will be equally ineffective as the last bunch doubing the innefficency and handicapping the government and people further

the best thing that can happen now is if we eliminate FEMA, give the people a bigger tax cut, so that we can privately donate more and more money to help those in need and not spend our tax dollars on inefficient waste and then when the money goes out after being squandered with red tape, it is now being spent on strip bars and the like as some buffoons decided to issue a credit card

I don't care if they got out or not. If they had thousands of dallars in a local bank for their kids college. They just lost their homes, their food, their clothing. They can't get to their money because they lost the bank, their bank cards. You doctor, are against giving them money to get thru this stretch? You are really a piece of work. Without FEMA and these other organizations you despise how do you think they would get anything to survive? Someone has to organize it. That is what your government is for. The fact that the shrub and "Brownie" screwed up is somehow okay with you. Amazing, simply amazing.
The private sector has really stepped up w/ donations, so I think we could survive w/o FEMA. I agree with you Stevie that it has to be organized, but the government (on all levels) has really disappointed me in this situation. If they're going to be involved, they need to get some people (local, state, feds) who can take control of a situation from the start and not after people are waiting around w/o food, water and shelter. The city of NO did have a plan for this type of situation, but it was not followed after God knows what was spent to even put a plan like that together.
As for the debit cards, I heard something else on the radio about someone buying a play station with the debit card, so I am glad they stopped giving those out. Give them some type of vouchers that can only be used on necessities, etc.

How can the private sector get money to the victems if there is not a plan and an institution set up to do it? There was one in FEMA before your boy Boys Bush and "Brownie" destroyed it. Is someone using the money for the wrong purpose of course some are. But some rich people cheat on their taxes too so maybe we should just not allow deductions?
