Ive never understood why some of these actors say the things they say.....If I was an actor I would keep my mouth shut for fear of a backlash against my career.Look at what has happen to the Dixie Chicks. The general public are the ones who ultimately pay these so called celebrities salaries. It is amazing to see how many "celebrities" either dropped out of high school or didnt complete college.I will always remember what some of these idiots have said and in the future I will not be watching alot of these bonehead's movies......

For starters, I'd say that anyone who agrees with or opposes the war based on what the government or actors tells them is a moron. Read, listen, watch, and make up your own mind.

Further, this is just a very silly way to make a point. I could just as easily post the resumes of Bruce, Ah-nold, and Charlie Daniels and then post the resumes of people who oppose the war, Jimmy Carter, Tom Daschle, Byrd, and say "which group do you listen to?" Just because you found 5 high school drop-outs who oppose the war doesn't mean shit.

Celebrities, like sports stars, are usually pretty uneducated, uninformed, and un-interesting. To prop them up as the leaders of the anti-war movement just because they're the ones on TV is ridiculous.

Have to disagree with you here. The celebrities that have been most outspoken about the war have brought this upon themsleves. They are now fair game. No one asked them their opinions or asked them to open their mouths about anything. It is unfortunate but many of these people are looked up to by individuals in our society and these celebs were hoping to influence those sycophants. It has back-fired horribly for them. The public is their revenue stream. They need to wise up and close their traps. Any lost revenue or bad publicity they get, they deserve. And, the time for debate has passed. Unite behind the troops. Argue the reasons, etc after the conflict is over. History will tell which side was more correct.

You're not disagreeing with me at all, I don't think.

I completely agree that these celebs have made fools of themselves and would do well to shut up.

What I don't agree with is the original posters insinuation that people who oppose the war have been led there by morons, and that people who support the war have by led there by the educated, or the means that he used to demonstrate it.

I like to think that people have arrived at there position by themselves, or by following the educated on both sides of the issue.

It's a real "straw man" argument.

Someone who supports the war doesn't do so because Charlie Daniels laid it out for him anymore than people who oppose it do so because Streisand laid it out for them. And that's what he was saying by "which group do you listen to?"

re-read the post. I'm sorry, you are correct.

You can't blame one side for doing one thing and applaud another for doing exactly the same thing. the problem is, too many people in this country prefer to be told how to think, what to think, etc than to research both sides of an issue and come up with an original thought pattern.

They see "liberal" and agree or they see "conservative" and agree. It's too bad.

What I object to is the media telling us that these celebs do not know what they are talking about and making them out to be stupid.
It is members of THE MEDIA telling you that other members of THE MEDIA are stupid and do not know what they are talking about.
Streisand speaks out. Fox news is all over her making her out to be stupid. O'Reilly is all over the celebs telling them not to speak out against the war. Who the Hell is he? He is a member of THE MEDIA that is in favor of it.
The same thing goes for the other side. Bill Maher will make some Republican look bad because The Republican said something in favor of the war.
We are all being minipulated.

StevieD,

I like to think that I am only manipulated by my wife(LOL).I try to get as much info as I can on issues before I make a decision, but if you feel you are being manipulated then don't let it happen. I think the people who don't realize it are the ones getting manipulated.

The problem I have with celebs is that many of them are against the war with iraq, but were in agreement with the action that Clinton took in kosovo. The only conclusion that I can come up is that they don't like Bush & like Clinton. As a matter of fact I tend to think that many of the people who oppose the war are against it because there is a republican running our country, & not a democrat.

AR182 Then if you feel that the only reason celebs are against the war is because a Republican is in the White House then it only follows that the only Media types who are for the war are doing so because they are Republicans.
And we all get manipulated by our wives! Isn't that what they are for?

I shudder to think what a degenerate I'd be by now if I weren't manipulated by my wife.

StevieD,

Yes I do think that. Unfortunately I think that many people let their decisions be dictated by party line. Which pisses me off about American politics.

I keep telling my wife that instead of trying to manipulate mind I wish she could manipulate a different part of my body.(LOL)
