WHY , WHY , is it that scientist are INTENT on telling us that while the universe is expanding (this has been somewhat proven) , that it MUST eventually stop and collapse back onto itself ? Is it because we cannot fathom the true meaning of the word "FOREVER" or is it that they REFUSE "renounce" if you will that a supreme being (God) in my case does INDEED exist ? It appears (to me) , scientist(in this instant) in this day and age have REFUSED to believe what FUNDAMENTALLY HAD to be their "mantra" if you will , that ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE ! Was it not just a year or two ago when two INDEPENDENT labs , one in Cali the other in Italy , REFUTED Einsteins' theory , by sending an object from one point to another , FASTER , yes FASTER then the speed of light ? Anyway , my thinking is that , while we have made AMAZING strides in understanding our world/universe , in the last fifty years , we have NOT EVEN BEGUN to get close to all the knowledge that is available to us and that for scientist to PROUDLY PROCLAIM that they KNOW for certain that universe WILL eventually collapse back upon itself is patently absurd to me .

there are several theories out there....one is that it could collapse and others say that it expands forever.....the math is far to difficult to explain and i can't understand most of it either...and i have substantial background being a physics major

almost all scientists proclaim their theories and everything else as factual......it is a problem and the public is often misled....hard to even know what you are measuring when measuring speeds such as the speed of light or anything else......the act of measuring is in itself an event that throws off the measurement

astronomy/physics are very interesting subjects to engage in....i would recommend anyone to spend time learning about both....great stuff

Iminforabuck ,
That was one of the most USELESS post's (I personally) have ever seen here . Freeze made a good point , throwing to that , scientists' gospel lends itself to mathmatics . While we here in this " lifetime" won't know the answer , there are some here who have insights that I might not have considered , that is what I am/ was am looking for . GT

Relax.....geeez

Was just quoting Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds for some humor because of the complexity of the whole thing. I guess if you had remembered the scene I was referring to.....you would understand why I posted it.

Sorry to interject humor into your critically important message. I hope I put no ones life at risk by doing so. If you felt I was mocking you....I wasnt

To everyone else visiting this thread.....I apologize and hope that in no way shape or form did I retract your concentration on the debate of Universal expansion with my "useless" attempt at making light of the situation.
