I'm on my way out, but can't resist presenting aid where needed.
WHIP is an important stat for pitchers: simply
WALKS + HITS / Innings Pitched
Guy goes 9, allows 5 hits, 4 walks (any combo) and he's got a 1.0 whip for that game.
Pedro had a 1.03 whip before getting hurt, which is beauty (I think only a couple of starters had sub 1 whips last year (Pedro was one at 0.92).
1.20 to 1.30 still ain't shabby, while 1.50 + suggest non-domination, if I can so slay the english way that way
Just some facts and my 2 cents combo pack
