With the Sox having the Twinks in for 2 games next week, I was looking to go against them, but with the M's tepid offense going against a focused Garcia . . . it's not so easy.
From the Seattle Times:
They hope to see it today against the White Sox, when the right-hander makes his third start of the year. But mostly, they hope to see Meche move past the arm issues that surfaced in his first two outings.
The team has checked out Meche and says there is nothing structurally wrong with his arm. He has complained of stiffness in his elbow, and was given anti-inflammatory medicine.
The Mariners also pushed back his start two days in hopes of getting the inflammation out. After his first two starts, against the Twins and Rangers, Meche has a 7.88 ERA, and opponents are hitting .351 off him. He has given up 13 hits and four walks in eight innings.
Meche was encouraged by a strong bullpen session on Thursday, but said, "You never know for sure until you take the mound. I'll know for sure when hitters are up and I get my pitch count up."
He added, "It's not like I'm out there pitching with pain. It's a matter of feeling. It changes the way I feel the ball in my hand, and the release point changes. The good thing is I know there's nothing in there that's hurt."
