I saw Asencio?s first start last year and couldn?t believe that he was a big league pitcher. The guy threw a tepid fastball and a change-up that didn?t look to fool anyone. Both didn?t move at all. The Sox were way ahead of him all day and smacked the ball foul all game. And only scored one run. I couldn?t wait to fade this guy the next time he faced the Sox, but I missed both of his next two games against Chicago as football season had taken too much of my time (Both Chicago wins). I haven?t seen him pitch since then, so my analysis may be off, but if he has the same stuff as the last time I saw him, the White Sox will rock him.

Garland had some great performances last year until the season got out of hand. It?s really time for him to step up this year. His major problem at the beginning of last year was intensity and Manuel questioned him on it and he stepped up. Garland has had success against the Royals in the past and he has trouble with the same two Royals as everyone on the Sox : Sweeney and Ibanez. If he can keep away from 3 and 4 in the KC lineup, he?ll be fine.

Pitchers aside, the Sox bats were hitting the ball hard, they didn?t get the timely hitting or fielding that is necessary to win, but against Asencio, it shouldn?t matter.
