Minnesota owned the Sox in 2001, winning 14 of 19 games. But the Sox did take 3 of the last 5 to close the season when they were better. The question is did the Sox lose all those games to the Twins because they had a terrible start or did they have a terrible start because they lost all those games to the Twins?

One thing I do know is that the Sox never gave the Twins any credit for the performance. They would talk in the papers on how much better they were than the Twins and then go out and get thumped.

Both of the pitchers today played against the other team in limited capacity last year to fill innings in blowout games but those stats can be skewed due to the situations that they came in. Garland has looked to be the better of the two pitchers in their last 5 outings and with the return of the DH (Frank) to the lineup for this series, the White Sox offense should get a charge. Minnesota's Kinney has had trouble getting to the sixth inning.
