Todd Ritchie has been the major aspect of this team that fingers have pointed to as the reason for the Sox ills this season. He was supposed to be the veteran that the pitching staff needed to make them a contender. But he has done little besides serve up batting practice to the opposition. While his ERA is an astronomical 5.82 for the first half of the season, his stats are even worse when you throw out the first month of the season. However, in the past few games he has had more resolve then he had during May and June and has come back strong even after giving up homers and having suspect defense behind him. He will need that tonight in what should be a high-scoring game.
Mark Redman has been solid despite his record, but he will be pressed tonight. He uses the change-up as his out pitch and the White Sox usually kill those pitchers especially when they don?t throw hard. Konerko and Ordonez do especially well against them and when the 3rd through 5th spot are on for the Sox, they have a lot of success. Also, Alomar and Lofton were obviously playing hurt the past few weeks and they looked like new players last night. I like the Sox to continue their win streak and this series to continue it?s high-scoring ways (Over is 9-1-2 in 2002).
