PHOENIX -- Ozzie Guillen has targeted Friday as the day the White Sox will start playing their spring games with victory in mind.

That will give the Sox nine games to get their starters used to playing nine innings with four at-bats, while bullpen roles will also be defined. Sox starters typically have not been playing more than five or six innings and minor-league players have been closing out games.

The process is not expected to be that revealing as the position players pretty much have been set since before camp even started. Spring performances have helped define the bullpen with Billy Koch so far hanging onto the closer role.

Left-hander Damaso Marte is expected to be the primary setup man, with Cliff Politte also assuming some setup duties. Kelly Wunsch will be a situational lefty, while Shingo Takatsu has fallen from a setup man expected to pitch at least an inning at a time to a situational right-hander.

Jason Grilli is in line to take the long relief spot while the final bullpen spot appears to be a battle between Mike Jackson and Jon Adkins.

''We have an idea of what's going to happen, but until the games start being played, you really don't know,'' said Wunsch, who retired the only two batters he faced Monday.
