Ken Squier has my vote. & if anyone says Elie Gold well we are going to have to meet in a dark ally somewhere and fight until one of us is badly hurt. or dead.

Caywood Ledford and Larry Munson for the old-school feel.

Steve Levy is the best young announcer going right now. I'm not a very big hockey fan, but I got caught up in a game last year because of his announcing. Very thorough and doesn't throw out bad jokes like these half-asses that have jobs now.

heard an old broadcast of Foster Hewitt, he was not just the first but one of the great hockey announcers.

my vote would go to Danny Gallivan some of those expressions he would come up with, he was great.

thanks

Whenever I watch an Avalanche game, I close my eyes and get the chills.

Dan Kelly; St. Louis Blues, on radio, late at night in bed, hiding the radio from my parents, under my covers, while searching for KMOX (lived in Toronto at the time) and silently cheering when I heard that voice (finally found it!).

Of course Foster (and his son Bill for me) and Danny are there too, but great memories of a great voice over the radio. His son is pretty good but a tough act to follow (I wonder if that's why he's in Denver).

Growing up in LA and listening to Vin Scully inscpireed me to try and break into this field. Vinny is simply the best. Also enjoy Bill Walton!LOL

Although i might not have a best, i will tell you who i can not stand, and that is Dennis Miller. I am just tried of that guy.

Not to metion, is he sleeping with Al?, b/c last time i checked all he talks to in the booth is Al. Personally the one guy that knows what he is actually saying, is Dan Fouts,(for crying out load, he is a Hall of Famer) and all Dennis does is step on him and interrups what he was to say, and trust me i much rather hear it from someone that knows and has played it too tell me what is going on, on the feild.

I do not need someone to tell me anedotes and compare the plays on the feild to some damn greek mythology and try to "stump" me with words that even "Webster" himself shakes his head at.

But anyway, i think that Bob Costas always has a voice that is pleasing to the ear when it comes to big events, but i love Madden and who crazy he gets at times, kinda of reminds me of ol Harry and the Cubbies.

Im out, all/

Football: Al Michaels, Keith Jackson

Baseball: Jack Buck, Vin Skully, Jerry Coleman, Bob Costas, Charlie Steiner

Basketball: Yuck...Marv Albert?

Hockey: Danny Gallivan

Boxing: Howard Cosell, Jim Lampley

Horseracing: Trevor Denman

Overall: Al Michaels - Can call just about any sport, is versatile, adds just the right amount of humor, timely, and does his homework. Solid across the board.

All you cheeseheads who ever listened to the packers broadcast on the radio know what i am talking about.
As the game wore on, if the packers were kicking some butt you could actually hear the guy start slurring his words by about midway thru the 3rd quarter.
If the Pack was losing it was closer to the end of the game he started slurring, but it seemed to be a much worse slur.

I don't have a greatest one ever, but I grew up listening to BOB COLE on CBC SATURDAY HOCKEY NIGHT here in TORONTO...

the only thing I liked about him was his great announcing voice...he couldn't analyse a hockey game if he read from cue cards....
