Cuzzi is doing great compared to the home plate umpire Carrapazza in the Texas-Toronto game...Carrapazza was an embarrassment to baseball with his inconsistent strike zone.

Cuzzi has been an embarrassment on both sides but more so for lackey who worked each corner by 6 inches and the high strike by 6 inches.

I didn't see the Texas game unfortunately.

So is it ok to say in this situation that is as long as he is consistently calling the game it's fine?

Personally I don't think so at all.

You have to wonder what the heck this guy sees. Thought he was pretty equal to both sides, but gjn23 said he favored Lackey. Looking at previous umpire stats some say they favor home team. If this game is sent to the big umpire office in NY, they have to be seeing the same thing, and to continue to let these guys make these types of calls is eyebrow raising. All I know is, Game 1, Cards.:00hour:0053

Lester had no command in or out of the zone tonight. Even with that huge zone (and it was huge for him too) he went to 9 three ball counts. A normal ump and he walks guys and gets shelled.

Both pitchers took advantage. Why throw strikes when you will get call off plate?

Cuzzi is one of those umpires that stirs the pot and gets the manager's ire from both dugouts typically, cuz he has a floating strike zone game to game, meaning like yesterday he had a huge zone, but if you have watched him when Kershaw or Hamels or CC Sabathia are pitching, the zone gets smaller.

Carapazza follows the same trend, he's a stirrer of the pot as well.

When they are behind the plate, play the UNDER!!
