Who's your favorite underrated actor/ress?

I dont mean Tom Cruise because you think hes underrated, who out there is your favorite among actors who may not have gotten top billing. Could be movies that werent huge hits, whatever.

I think mine would be Gabriel Macht. He played the wingman in Behind Enemy Lines, also had good parts in The Recruit, Bad Company, American Outlaws and The Others.

Runner up for me but he hasnt had much exposure is Eric Bana, loved his character in Blackhawk Down, he plays The Hulk.

Edward Norton can play any role, but it seems like he doen't get the respect he deserves for his work.

but,i didn`t like him in red dragon..as a matter of fact,red dragon sucked....manhunter was much better......norton was great in primal fear and the score....

Wow, this one's tough! I can probably give a good list, but the person on my mind right now is Naomi Watts from Mulholland Drive which was such a mindblowing movie, and from last year's The Ring which scared the crap out of me.

She's almost like a poor man's Nicole Kidman, but I think she's got some serious potential.

Kevin Bacon in the movie Murder in the First...........unbelievable performance.......should have won an Oscar.........true he's been around forever....but he is one dam good actor......as for Ed Norton......all I have to say is American History X....wow!!!

(although he's not underrated.........everybody in Hollywood raves about this guy)

Did you read the book first, I did and agree the movie sucked. If you have not read it then pick it up, very good.

Sandra Bullock is a great actress, and she is very easy on the eyes.

I always liked Eric Roberts for some reason too. I think he's king of the B action movies.

i read red dragon and it blew me away....maybe the best thriller i`ve ever read...the movie showed me nothing...i had high hopes,but it was a let down.....terrible casting....

sixfive.....eric roberts is a damned good actor...how he ended up being a "b" movie actor i`ll never figure out.....he`s about 3 times more talented than his overrated sister...

65 & gardenweasel, if you like eric roberts i suggest that you see "the pope of grenwich village"

edward norton is not underrated, he is very well thought of as an actor.

garden, good picks with jt walsh & steve buscemi are very good choices.


on the other hand, actors & actress who i think are very over-rated are john travolta, richard gere, & jennifer lopez.

Norton is a great actor but don't think he is 'underrated'. As for me, actors like Delroy Lindro, Joe Mantegna, William H. Macy, Viggio Mortenson.

Hoops: Aaron Eckhart? Are you kidding me? The only notable movies that guy has been in are the Neil LaBute pieces of chauvanistic garbage. The only exception to that was last year's Posession with Gwyneth Paltrow. Get yourself some real movies.

Eric Roberts, when not slumming it in Ja Rule & Charley Baltimore's music video, is actually a pretty good actor. "Best of the Best." Need I say more? lol. Seriously, when he actually gives his all (Star 80 is a notable film) he is a pretty kickass actor. I also really liked him in that movie with Teri Hatcher and Alec Baldwin in the 90s about the Louisiana cop who went sour? I forgot the name of it, but I thought he was great in that.

ACK! I forgot to mention one of my favorite underrated actors...

Vince Vaughn.

He's got the drama quotient licked. Watch "The Locusts" sometime.

And comedy? What movie is better than "Swingers" or "Made"? Even take a look at "Old School". He's so hilarious!
