Billy Packer is very pro ACC and anti-Big 10 - I realize that....but
He made a comment that Wisky and Ohio State would be playing for a #1 seed tomorrow. I'm not so sure they shouldn't both be #1 seeds....
It seems that everyone thinks Ohio State is a lock, along with UCLA and Kansas....
Not so fast, my friend. If the RPI means anything at all, they should use it. Let's look at the "big name" teams and see how they stack up:
Ohio State 29-3, #1 in the RPI
UCLA 25-5, #2 RPI
North Carolina 26-6, #3
Pittsburgh, 27-6, #4
Wisconsin, 29-4, #5
Florida, 28-5, #8
Kansas 29-4, #11
Why the heck is everyone thinking Kansas gets a #1? Very week schedule, losing to Oral Roberts and a double digit RPI?
I can certainly see Ohio State and North Carolina as locks.
UCLA would be eliminated (in my mind) for losing their last 2 games in the season to bottom feeders of the PAC-10.
Kansas would be eliminated from consideration due to their poor schedule and RPI.
That leaves Wisconsin, Florida and Pitt for the last 2 spots. Obviously RPI is a piece of the puzzle, as is who did each of these teams play and importantly, WHO did they lose to.
Somebody please help me understand all the love that UCLA and Kansas is getting. I can at least understand UCLA due to their strong RPI. But Kansas? PLEASE!! Sure they have the same record as the big boys, but their RPI is terrible!
