Main Story: On to Seattle
(1/9) After a thrilling, defensive led win over Tampa Bay in the NFC Wild Card playoffs, the Redskins now head to a difficult Seattle stadium to play the NFC's number one seed, Seattle Seahawks and the NFL's new single season rushing TD running back Shaun Alexander. Perhaps even more important is stopping the passing offense of Seattle and QB Matt Hasselback. The one positive aspect the Skins have going is for the first time since early this season, the entire secondary is healthy and will play. CB Shawn Springs, nursing a sore groin, will make his return and practice all week, to play against his former team. S Sean Taylor is not expected to be suspended for a spitting incident and S Ryan Clark, banged up in TB, will be ready to go, marking the healthiest the Redskins secondary has been in a number of weeks.

The first time these two teams met, the Redskins escaped with a 20-17 win, on a missed FG by Seattle Kicker Josh Brown and a game winner by Redskins K Nick Novak. In that game, the Redskins defense held Alexander to 98 yards and 1 TD. They will look to do more of the same and bottle up Alexander's space. One of Alexander's runs came on a 34 yards outside run that plagued the Skins for several weeks. With the reinstallation of LB Lavar Arrington into the defense, that plug on the outside has been effectively closed.

Redskins will start DE Demetric Evans against Seattle. Starter Renaldo Wynn broke his forearm and will miss the rest of the season. Evans is more than capable of starting, playing small amounts but racking up 22 tackles, 3 assists and 3 sacks. Evans added a playoff sack last week, sacking Simms once.
