Why not Bunt ?

Thome, Griffey, Ortiz etc...

Every team puts on " the shift " against these guys.

When no one is on, why not have these guys bunt. GET ON BASE, Extend the inning. It would eventually stop teams from doing this

IF NO ONE IS PLAYING AT THIRD, HIT IT TO THIRD.

I agree with you it is silly not to at least the first AB..... small ball wins IMO everyone plays for the 3run homer

bunting seems easy and it does make sense

however, the big boppers get paid to hit homers and drive in runs

they don't want to do it because of losing money

yes, i can bat .350 but i only had 35 rbi's and 8 homers for the year

no good for my contract

the managers would lose their jobs if they made these big boppers bunt

plus, no big name player would ever play for one of these managers

it is all about the money

many contracts have incentive clauses

with this being said

there are key moments in a game, when a nice bunt would do the trick

those guys can't bunt...I would say they don't even practice squaring around...bunting a 90 MPH heater is not easy...or even a 70 MPH knuckler...that's why they don't bunt...

I don't see a Thome or Ortiz legging out a bunt anyway. I could hop out the stands and get the ball and throw those guys out.

It is VERY HARD to bunt but these guys make enough money that they should be able to do it and if they get it to the third base side there is no one there they could walk to first.............like I said the first AB they should try it once in awhile it would keep the defense honest and could change the game..........IMO....... if you make an out 7 out of 10 times and that makes you awesome I think every out you should try to make it a productive one...........I can't stand when they don't bunt w/ man on 1st and 2nd w/ no outs then hit into a DP then the inning is pretty much over that is my biggest frustrating thing to watch
