Pittsburgh (D'Amico) @ Houston (Miller)
I cant quite understand why Houston is such a large fav here at -175. Now I know Houston are at home but that's where the advantage stops. It's not quite what happened six or even ten games back with the starting pitchers, but what has been more recent.
With those thoughts I note Miller has a high 4.83 ERA on the season and an even higher 5.95 ERA in his past 3 starts. D'Amico has a season ERA of 3.87 and an awesome 1.37 ERA in his past 3 starts. D'Amico and Miller have pitched against one another twice already this season with the Pirates prevailing in both instances. D'Amico gave up just 2 earned runs in 16 innings worth of work in those two games while Miller gave up 10 earned runs in just 10.3 innings worth of work.
Throw into the mix the fact that the Pirates have been playing very well of late, having now won 6 of their last 8 games overall. It is also worth mentioning that Pittsburgh has taken 4 of the past 5 meetings against the Astros, including a 3 game sweep less than a week ago.
+165 appears well over priced as at these odds Pittsburgh would only have to win 37.7 % of the time to break level. With their current form and the better pitcher toeing the rubber tonight they would be more likely to win at a clip over 45%.
