The Dodgers hit Batista hard from the start, getting an extra-base hit in each of the first three innings.

Green sent Los Angeles to a 2-0 lead in the first with a 411-foot drive that landed among television crews on an elevated pavilion next to the center-field wall.

The next inning, Eric Karros doubled and scored on Ashby's clean single to left center.

"We were in position to sweep them, but you've got to tip your hat," Green said. "They battled back against the best pitcher in baseball."

JOSE LIKE me is getting old but still a warrior he will struggle to make another comeback and may have a few good outings this year again, I hope.

JOSE brings with him an intangable that is of great value, ATTITUDE a good one that is he is such a positive upbeat person who should make a good impact again on some of the young players on this Reds team.

90 percent of the time he is smiling in the dugout and encouraging his team mates.

When in his prime we would go to the games the ones he didn't pitch he was always out signing for the fans. Simply the kind of guy that has made baseball what it is over the years.
