The Red Wings practiced one more time Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena before embarking on an 11-day, five-game road trip that begins today in Phoenix. They packed their hockey equipment bags, after having already packed their luggage for the trip.
Veteran forward Kris Draper admitted he tends to over-pack.
"I got two suits, three dress shirts, two ties, two pairs of jeans, four casual shirts, 10 pairs of underwear," said Draper, who went on to list other essentials including socks, shoes, a shaving kit and vitamins.
Draper said with stretches between the five games, he'll utilize the dry-cleaning service at the hotels. "Some guys are cheap and won't do that, but I will," he said.
Draper said he always does his own packing.
"We have a big suit bag, and I pack it so it's full," he said. "I'd rather have more clothes than not enough."
Jason Williams said he tries to pack light.
"A couple suits and five different dress shirts, kinda one for every game," Williams said. "If we win a game, you might want to go with the same suit. You never know."
He agreed with Draper on one essential.
"Lots of underwear," Williams said. "You don't want to be coming to the end and turning them inside out or going commando."
