It means that the file you want from a particular person, that that person has that file, but isn't online with winmx at the time. The next time he/she/it logs in provided you are still online you will start receiveing the download. Qued basically means you are waiting in line, and the number is how many people ahead of you. I think, but pretty sure.

It just means you're in a queue behind other people. It should list you as queued (say 9) and then gradually countdown until you start the download. The number is how many people have to download it before it's your turn.

For the most part that is correct. However, it is not how many people are downloading that song, but the number of people downloading one of the files he/she has available. You can set your options to allow as many uploads/ downloads as you want , and how many you want any one person to get at any one time. Most people don't have more than 4 or so because it slows down their transfer rate if they are downloading themselves or they are on the internet at the same time.........It pasy to take a few extra minutes and scan through the listed tunes and see haw many peoiple are qued in fron of you, and also teh type of service they use ( 56K, Cable, DSL, T1 ) Most of the time it's better to grab a little higher que with a faster connection........It can be real frustrating at the beginning, but if you take a little time and mess around with it you can find some neat ways to improve your downloading.

Rock On !

If you're a WinMX user, I found the following pages SUPER helpful: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/j.buchanan/ . In particular, check out ISP Port blocking issues and bandwidth limiting. Since using these tips the performance of my WinMX has improved 100%. I'm on a cable connection and found it got clogged and stalled a lot. I just added a "1" in front of the two Port numbers ("16699" and "16257"), and limited uploads to 65K. Also limited it to 6 uploads at a time, and a max of 2 per person. Works fantastic now and doesn't slow down anything else on my computer either.

Hey GM........Are you not using a firewall?......I have a cable modem and it won't allow me to use those ports, but rather have been assigned to a different connection for those who are unable to accept incoming TCP connections?
