LSU has a very talented squad top to bottom. Team speed is remarkable. If not for the well documented road schedule from hell, a Nat'l Title run would be possible IMO. Still, there are a couple of areas of concern:
The OL concerns me. They played horribly in the 1H vs UL-L. If the OL comes together, LSU will be difficult to slow down offensively with the massive depth at RB and WR giving the ever-improving Jamarcus Russel (15-2 as a starter) a variety of weapons.
LSU played a gimmick defense (3-3-5) vs UL-L. MLB Luke Sanders, DT Marlon Favorite were among those NEW starters who played very little. I feel this was a poor decision on the part of Pelini/Miles. After losing several starters from last season (2 DTs, 1 DE and 2LBs) , this front 7 needs to mesh. Why alter your basic scheme to play an inferior opponent when it means you must sit multiple key new players who you will count on all season long??
My guess is the D will be fine, especially with the poor showing by the Zona O in week 1.
As a fan, these things frustrate me, as a "handicapper"(and I use the term loosely) they provide an opportunity.
I expect low scoring affair...... LSU 24 Zona 13
