4-0 yesterday and 4-0 YTD
Today's plays:
Best Bet: New York Liberty -2.5 (bought half a point)
The Storm have finished last in the WNBA in both years since joining the league; I don't think that even the addition of Sue Bird will help them get out of the cellar.
Seattle's leading scorer last season, Lauren Jackson (15.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg) is doubtful for this game with a sprained ankle.
The Liberty hit 54% from the field in last night's 84-62 tune-up at Portland.
The Liberty have won both of their games vs the Storm by a combined 37 points.
LA Sparks -9
The Sol doesn't stand a chance of winning this game against last year's WNBA champions without Ruth Riley. Riley is out at least 4 weeks with a broken finger and last year's league MVP Lisa Leslie will dominate this game. Leslie averaged 18 points and 15.5 boards last season and had 22 points and 17 rebounds in the Spark's last game vs a decent Houston team.
The only concern is a LA look-ahead to Saturday's night game vs Charlotte, a rematch of last year's championship game. A good play might be LA for the first half.
Portland Fire +10.5 and Portland Under 136
The Fire looked bad last night at home against the Liberty (24 turnovers and last year's league rookie of the year Jackie Stiles was just 3-7 from the field). But I think the Fire will play a slower and more aggressive game tonight, last night they got caught up in the Liberty's faster tempo game.
All three games between these two teams last year were decided by six points or less.
