Worker stuck on a hot tar roof
Friday, July 22, 2011
The Associated Press

A man is expected to make a full recovery after getting stranded as he worked on the roof of a house in oppressive heat.

Lamont Robinson slipped as he worked on the roof of his cousin's Hazelwood home and found himself stuck because of the hot tar he'd been using.

Mr. Robinson was stuck on the hot roof for nearly two hours in temperatures that hovered in the low-90s. Firefighters rescued him around noon after a relative realized Robinson couldn't get down on his own.

Mr. Robinson said the slick tar kept him from climbing to safety after he slipped. He said he was "baking like a turkey" before his rescue.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
