Greek has -150 right now, but oddly..........TB is a dog in the first game????????
I don't get this logic at all. :shrug:
Now, if Philly "should" win the first game, wouldn't it stand to reason that the series price would shrink a bit on Tampa with a 0-1 deficit?
I understand Hammels is a stud, but come on. If you are telling me a team is going to have a 1-0 lead in the series, I can't see the other team being a favorite to the tune of -150! Plus, Hammels will get a home game to boot!
Is this just a case of a book holding far too much money on futures bets on Tampa, and giving us a false favorite in Tampa to balance the books?

I agree that it is hard to explain the logic behind this line, but for whatever reason Vegas is asking for money on Philly. I just bet Rays -145 for series. My thoughts are that Philly's starting rotation is not nearly as good 1 through 4 as Tampa Bay, and that will be the difference. Plus I believe the 2-3-2 format favors the team with homefield advantage. If I was the Phillies manager I would pitch Hamels Games 1, 4, and 7. I don't know if he has it in him though.

I think Philadelphia wins game 1, but i like my chances better with a Tampa bet for the series (if Maddon pitches Price, Jackson, Howell a little more in important situations). So, i can get right now Phillies +150 for the series, like a middling bet, what do you think the line will be for the Rays down 1 game??
Rays being favored right now and you guys expecting that TB loses game one doesnt make sense to me. Take the dog or its gonna cost ya alot more after TB wins game one.

Which makes sense to me to just bet the Rays to win game 1.
Why not take them to win one game as a dog, rather than hope they win a whole series at an inflated price? Espescially since the odds of them winning the series have to go down GREATLY if they trail 0-1
