I could not possibly agree more. There's just no common sense in making that call in that spot, why would Cuddyer make the tag play and not get it done before looking to make the throw, and the runner didn't even really try to avoid it much. Terrible call, and I'm sure Gardenhire told the guy what a fuckstick he was to make that call.
Those kinds of stupid calls can be the difference between a good stretch and making decisions you wouldn't have to make otherwise. It didn't hurt them any more, but they had to bring in Duensing for the third time in three games, and they have three more with the Rays. He's definitely out for tonight's game.
Terrible call. And I try to be fairly objective. Like realizing our closer is not going to be good enough to win a World Series... that kind of thing...
