LA Dodgers at
Washington

Lowe (3-3) allowed five hits, walked one and struck out three, the latest in a spate of impressive outings that has helped the Dodgers win seven of their last eight. He prevailed in a pitcher's duel that spoiled the return of Nationals starter Shawn Hill from Tommy John surgery, and snapped Washington's season-high four-game winning streak.

Hill, making his first start in two years, allowed five hits and one run over seven innings, with two walks and three strikeouts. The game was tied 1-1 when he left, but the Dodgers put together a rally in the eighth against relievers Mike Stanton (1-5) and Gary Majewski.

It wasn't all good news for the Dodgers. Second baseman Jeff Kent left in the second inning with a sprained left wrist.

Dodgers OF J.D. Drew sat out the game with a sore shoulder

7:05 pm Red Sox Spread -1.5 for Game -141 S. McClung must start C. Schilling must start

Schilling seeks his 200th career win as the Boston Red Sox try to take a third straight game in their four-game weekend series with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Saturday.
The 39-year-old right-hander -- 199-133 in a 19-year career -- is looking to become the eighth active pitcher with 200 career wins. Pedro Martinez, Schilling's teammate on Boston's 2004 World Series championship club, achieved the milestone last month with the New York Mets.

Schilling is 1-1 in two starts against the Devil Rays (21-28) this season and 8-5 with a 3.89 ERA in 17 career appearances versus Tampa Bay, including 12 starts.

McClung (2-5, 5.72) has had problems on the road this season, going 0-3 with an 8.75 ERA in five starts away from Tropicana Field. He gave up six runs in seven innings Monday at Toronto, taking the loss in a 6-4 defeat.

The right-hander is 1-3 with an 8.80 ERA in eight appearances versus Boston, including three starts -- all losses last season.
