I don't remember anything like this, but after the 1st two weeks and all the favs covering someone was talking about how the dogs would catch up some day. I guess that was this week.

fletcher,

Last year a similar situation sort of happened. I am sure you remember it - most, but not all of the dogs covered and it was snowing & raining at a few games. Cinnci beat Jacksonville (snowstorm) and detroit beat the jets (raining sleet). Those were a few of the upsets. Almost every under hit that day too. Do you remember what week I am talkin bout?

On the course!
Bet this:

Every bookie in the world is honkin' on a fattie tonight!

BUT

The day will come when all the favorites cover, and put some books to sleep.

This was a weird day, though.

it pays to look for pups with value. there is not much sweeter than having the lead and getting points to boot. i started as a favorite and over player with NFL, but have morphed and adapted to becoming a dog and under player (dog moreso than unders, but when an unders got merit, its sweet to not have to root for anything to happen sometimes). moral of the story i think is it pays to be on the books 'side' over the long run.....

interestingly this week, my suicide pool which had 27 players going into the week, now has a winner. 1 person had Tenn and barely squeeked out the win there. All others were spread amongst INDY, NO, BAL, TB, & CAR. 6 weeks into season and its OVER! Amazing! and all you had to do was pick a straight up winnah......

We called it keep the stadiums full and the TV on week. Another way to call it. Keep the sponser happy week. There will be one more. There seems to be two a year. This first one came before week 7. That surprised me a little. Second one should show up around week 12.
If I made add I think it's over for now. NYG stay at 3 or less they get my action. GL

Doggie,Doggie...Last week -dogs were 12-2,up until that point the favs.were 70% which kills guys like me.
Over the year it comes real close to 50-50,so why not 2 weeks of 'dogs'.Hey ,anything is possible in
the NFL.
Just keep thinking doggie, doggie and when you figure it out,let me know, please.
Good luck,Spanky....

my favorite play is road dogs and was wondering if they were ever going to come around this year.....last week did a quick study of how dogs and faves have fared in the NFL since 92...here is what I found :
2000 RDs 95/83/7 .534 HDs 42/41/4 .506
1999 RDs 85/80/3 .515 HDs 45/35/7 .563
1998 RDs 70/95/7 .424 HDs 40/34/4 .541
1997 RDs 88/74/11 .543 HDs 35/34/2 .507
1996 RDs 84/96/2 .467 HDs 45/25 .627
1995 RDs 87/79/5 .524 HDs 41/33/1 .554
1994 RDs 91/79/3 .535 HDs 30/26/2 .536
1993 RDs 87/71/3 .551 HDs 34/32/3 .515
1992 RDs 75/73/5 .507 HDs 40/38/1 .513

dogs were a winning proposition in all but two categories.......in the long run dogs are where the money is

Can't recall seeing football have so many dogs barking, but I remember last year in one night of NBA, all dogs went to heaven.

we probably remember the same day. Not only did all NBA dogs hit so did every college bb and nhlhockey game. Out of 23 total games I think 2 favorites covered

Same thing happened in our pool, started in week 1, 75%of the players had my Viks,GONE. This weekend we were down to 9, I had TB, 3 on Balt., 3 on N.O., 1 on Indy, and the winner on Tenn. GO FIGURE THIS YEAR!

I think its because theres just too much mediocrity this year in the nfl. Bad teams are getting better and Good teams are getting worse. Not all but alot of them.
