all day today i have been having problems doing business with wwts. then as i was surfing the different forums, i read that wwts is no longer doing business with u.s. citizens.

since i wanted to hear this from them instead of relying on the forums for info, i decided to call them. i spoke to somebody at customer service who told me that at the advice of their lawyers, they have suspended doing business with american citizens for this weekend. the girl told me that on monday they expect things to be back to normal & in the meantime have frozen all american accounts....i find this unbelievable !!

these politicans make me sick that they pick & choose what laws to enforce.

I dont understand how they can make payouts unavailable. Sure, dont take bets or deposits, but you can disable cashouts, thats weak.

BETCORP LIMITED

NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS

13 OCTOBER 2006

At 10.00am Friday October 13th, US Eastern time, President George Bush signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, bringing that Act into force.

As a result, and in accordance with the advice of its lawyers, Betcorp Limited has suspended all US-facing operations, pending further analysis of the Act?s final text and receipt of further legal advice.

This means that, until further notice, it will not be possible for US residents to place wagers or make deposits on, or make withdrawals from, any website owned or operated by any company in the Betcorp group. This account freeze will remain in place until such time as Betcorp has fully assessed its legal position.

Betcorp?s websites will continue to accept deposits and wagers from, and process withdrawals for, all customers other than US residents in the ordinary course of business. Betcorp currently has customers in some 87 countries other than the US.

The Board and Executive Management of Betcorp are committed to ensuring that all US customers will have access to their accounts restored as soon as possible.

Betcorp?s help lines and online inquiry services for all Group websites will continue to operate, with additional staff being deployed to handle US customer inquiries. Betcorp will keep all customers informed of developments.

They should be updating that announcement is my understanding. I was told it would be posted on the website this afternoon. However, I agree that this is ultra shady. I too can not understand why they will just not let us cash out our accounts. I guess they want to prevent people from panicing as it is possible that they could be up and back running later this week. Situation just plain stinks!

Washington -- President Bush has signed into law a port security bill authorizing $3.4 billion over five years for security measures.

Congress passed the bill September 30 before adjourning to campaign ahead of November congressional elections.

At the October 13 signing ceremony, Bush said, "Our seaports are a gateway to commerce, a source of opportunity, and a provider of jobs." But the ports could also be targets for terrorists, he said, and the U.S. government is "determined to protect them."

The new law codifies several security programs already under way, setting timetables for them in some cases. It places deadlines on the Department of Homeland Security for expansion of security programs with shippers and overseas ports -- the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism and the Container Security Initiative -- and requires the department to develop a plan to resume maritime commerce in the event of a terrorist attack on a U.S. port.

Within three months from the October 13 signing date, three overseas ports will be chosen for a pilot program in which 100 percent of cargo being sent to the United States will be scanned by radiation detectors. By six months from the signing date, pilot programs must begin to test the readers of biometric identification cards that port workers will carry.

The bill will require the 22 largest U.S. ports to scan all incoming cargo for radiological weapons by the end of September 2007.

The bill was stripped of measures dealing with rail and mass-transit security before Congress passed it. But a ban on Internet gambling was added to it, which will harm the earnings of overseas companies that had offered online poker to U.S. players.

Friday the 13th . Bad luck for Repub forever after.

another sleazy , behind the scenes dirty deal.

It goes against the will of the people and they know it.

funny how it mentions poker in the last sentence.

The major casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City and on Indian reservations did not take a position on the new law, said Frank J. Fahrenkopf Jr., president of the American Gaming Association. The group's reasoning: Less casino revenue comes from gambling, as entertainment, retail and other non-wagering spending now makes up 55 percent of the cash streaming into resorts such as Harrah's and Bellagio.

"The guy who comes home and goes to his den and cracks open a can of beer and bets on the Internet is not really our customer," Fahrenkopf said. "We never viewed the Internet as being competitive."

The association wants Congress to authorize an independent study of whether a legalized, nationwide, taxed and regulated online gambling system would work in the United States, as it does in Britain.

"Would we like to get into that business?" Fahrenkopf said. "Yeah, some of our guys would."

Goodlatte said he would press to update the Wire Act to conclusively extend its authority to the Internet. That part of his bill was dropped in the Senate.

The law does not go into effect until 270 days after his signature.

..................................................

The president used the bill-signing ceremony to assert that Republicans are tough on terror, a key issue in congressional elections just less than four weeks away.

He didn't mention an unrelated provision that seeks to put teeth into laws that forbid most online gambling. Instead, Bush focused on the multiple ways the legislation tightens security and closes a loophole in anti-terror defenses, especially at ports.
...................................................

Yeh Bush forgot to mention the gambling bill attached to it. What a joke.

They have other agendas going on with this.

This site pisses me off, they really have no right to disable cashouts, it's been 4 days now and still unable to cashout.

Parent Company of WWTS Sportsbook Freezes US Player Funds, Hoping for Buyout

October 16, 2006

In an official company statement released this morning, BetCorp Limited, the parent company of WWTS Sportsbook, had this to say regarding US player funds:

"On Friday 13 October 2006, the Group announced that it has suspended the accounts of United States residents with immediate effect, in response to the enactment of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 (the "Act") in the USA. The Group continues to trade with residents of 87 other countries in which it has customers.

The Company was unable to sell its US operations prior to the Act coming into force, given that both the ASX Listing Rules and the AIM Rules requires any such transaction to be conditional upon shareholder approval. Having taken legal and regulatory advice, the Company's Board were unanimously of the view that the Company should comply with this requirement.

The Board is continuing discussions wtih a number of unconnected parties who have expressed interest in the acquisition of the Group's gaming operations and infrastructure. There is no certainy that such discussions will lead to a sale, or on what financial terms a sale might take place. Any such sale will be subject to the approval of shareholders and the consent of the Financial Services Regulatory Commission in Antigua. It will also be conditional upon the purchaser assuming full liability for all customer deposits and staff contracts.

Pending the conclusion of the sale discussions and the receipt of funds from payment processing intermediaries, the Group has deemed it prudent to temporarily freeze withdrawals by United States residents in order to ensure an orderly return of funds to them. The Board accepts that this will cause some short-term inconvienence to clients but believes that, in these unique circumstances, it is in the best interests of all stakeholders.

The Group has already implemented a number of action to reduce the Group's cost base in line with the reduced scale of operations. These include staff reductions of approximately one third of the Group's workforce and the cessation of US facing marketing activity.

The Company expects to make a further announcement within the next 10 days."

I am starting to get worried that I will not get my money back. The good news is that the check I cashed from my withdraw two weeks ago in preparation for this type of move appears to be ok. Probably being silly, but I was worried!

Al, from another site..Bodog is going to buy BetWWTS. Should be announced soon. I think since it is a publically traded company there is some things that have to be done before it can be announced officially.

I guess this is good, although I dont know what bodog would want with WWTS. I know bodog doesnt have the best lines, but I love that place. Poker room there is full of fish, good bonuses and payouts are always quick.
