Honestly, I'd been saying this since almopst the beginning of the season--they are the 80s Yanks all over again. Fade them every night. I got off the fade when they went to Oakland and Seattle, after they put a few in a row together, and waited for the inevitable crash...been BACK on the fade for the past couple of series...

They'll start winning again, a few in a row, everyone does, just get off and wait. They'll be lucky to crack .600 ball this year.

jackanape,

i agree with you that the yanks are very similar to the 1980's teams.....george is making the same mistake now as he did in the 80's....he thinks that by paying for high priced ballplayers they will automatically have team chemistry.

the reason the yanks turned it around in the 90's was because george was suspended by mlb & the club was run by stick michael, who drafted & played pettite, jeter, b. williams, etc. instead of trading them for over priced players. hopefully george will get suspended again.

go terps,

i'm sorry but i am going to tell you that i think cashman is a fine gm. the problem with the yankee mgt.is that george is playing people from their home base (minor league executives & non baseball people) vs. people from the n.y. office (cashman, torre, etc.) against one another.....& have frozen gene michael out.i read alot about the yanks & this guy cashman is under tremendous pressure...you will see if he ever leaves the yanks how quickly he will be gobled up by another team.

They definately wont be the worst in their division but.. it is good to see them coming down to reality. Money doesnt buy wins! Also good to see the highest spending team looking like an ordinary team.

YANKS :mj11:

ar182..i should correct myself and say a fairer statement..I do not think because of the yankees success, Cashmen is a good gm..to me he hasn't proven anything, but could be a great gm for all i know...to me, and its only an opinion, he hasnt done anything yet..
