Yankees Payroll????

Does anyone know what their payroll is this season?

I remember ESPN reported it to be $147M this season, and now they have added Raul Mondesi's $11M salary...by my math that is $158M!

I know the Yankee PR machine and fandom want to claim their payroll is lower, and the argue that that figure is the average annual salary of the player, and not this particular seasons salaries.

However, by my count the Yankees now pay at least 8 guys $10M or more a year on average, plus guys like Jeter and Giambi average close to $20M and Ventura, Pettite, Hitchcock, and Karsay make $6-9M each, I believe...

Jeter- 10 year $190M
Giambi- 7 year $120M
Mussina-6 year $ 90M
Bernie- 7 years$ 82M
Posada- 5 years$ 55M
Rivera- 4 years$ 40M
Mondesi 2 years$ 24M-not sure of total deal
Clemens 2 years$ 30M-not sure of total deal

does anyone know the actual monetary figures????

They're not paying all of mondesi's salary either. This is reprinted without permission from an article at USAToday.com:

"Mondesi makes $11 million this year and $13 million next season. The Yankees, who started the season with a $126 million payroll, will pay $7 million of Mondesi's salary next season while the Blue Jays agreed to pay $6 million."

It says how much of the 13 they'll pay next year, but they don't say how much of the 11 they'll pay this year.

They are splitting this year's salary -- $5.5 million each
