Maybe I shouldn't say it wasn't a close play, but let's just say it was obvious without the aide of a replay that he was out. He was out by probably close to 1/2 step. The next fly ball by Damon would have ended the game, instead it tied it at 4 as a sac fly.
I'm pretty sure the side bet would just be a push and you would get your money back. I think certain sites have different rules as far as totals are concerned. Not sure about those...
in real time it was as close a play as you can get, it sure looked like a tie in real speed, in slo-mo he was out, those are the kind of calls that happen all yr long and they get evened out, the refs dont have slo-mo replay, they call em as they see em. holy shit !!!!!!!
I dunno mode. I definitely thought he was out even in real-time. In fact, I watched the play and as soon as I saw the throw to first I got up to go the kitchen because I assumed he would be called out. I got about halfway there and heard the announcers start to freak out about the safe call. Personally I don't really care. I don't have money on either side. I just don't like to see umps dictate the outcome of games in any sport.

there is no excuse for a paid professional umpire whose standing right there with a perfect angle to call that safe.
