YANKEES/TWINS UNDER 9 -120 ? These two teams have tended to go Under whenever they face each other. The first 2 games of this series have averaged a COMBINED total score of 7 runs per game, and the Under is now 8-1 in the last 9 head-to-head meetings. Also, the Twins have gone Under in 13 of their last 16 games overall while the Yankees Under is 4-0-1 in their last 5 games. Mussina has been his usual steady self this season, posting a 4-2 record with a very solid 3.56 ERA and an excellent WHIP of 0.92. He is 3-0 in his last 3 starts vs. the Twins, posting a 1.50 ERA and an amazing 0.67 WHIP against them in 24 innings. Also, he apparently enjoys pitching in domed stadiums, with a 0.92 WHIP in 69.1 innings when pitching in domes over the last 3 years. Reed is also having a fine season, with a 4-1 record and a 3.58 ERA. He is a perfect 3-0 here at home, and he has allowed more than 3 earned runs just once out of 7 starts this year. In fact, he has allowed just a TOTAL of 5 earned runs over his last 4 starts, covering 24.1 innings. If the bullpens are called upon, they will likely do their part to keep this game Under. The Yankees have one of the deepest pens in the league, and they have combined for a 3.44 ERA and a very good WHIP of 1.25. The Twins bullpen, although not household names, has actually put up even better numbers than the more heralded Yankees, with a great combined ERA of 2.68 and a fantastic WHIP of 1.11. If we throw in the fact that neither of these offenses has exactly been scorching the ball as of late, it appears that all the ingredients are in place for a low scoring ball game.
