"You would think that a leadoff walk would lead to more big innings than a leadoff home run. But we've done the research and it turns out that more big innings have come from leadoff home runs than leadoff walks."

LoL ...... I think Tim just mispoke ...... I would think that more big innings occur from leadoff walks than leadoff HRs

i do like him, but i hate when he goes over the infield fly rule for 10 minutes in the playoffs. I wish he got the message that only hard core baseball fans and gambling watch the playoffs.

Yes I'm sure "we've done the research"

This guy is such a tool.

Of course more runs are scored in innings that start with a run! How could you think otherwise. It's like math or something.

Guys, how about using baseball common sense to see where the guy is coming from for a minute.

You give a up a leadoff HR, then you still have no one on base to worry about, and you can shake it off and go after the next 3 hitters. Besides, HRs dont really come off of bad pitches (except to Vladdy) but pitches that are in the strike zone. BoBs, you missed the strikezone 4 times and possibly having command issues:shrug:

You give up a lead off walk, now you have to worry about the runner AND making the right pitch to the batter as to not give up a HR. You also have the mental task of making a pitch to induce a DP. You give up another walk or hit, now you have 2 men on and no outs.

His comments make perfect sense, but I'd be curious to know how many runs constitute a big inning. Is it 3, 5, 6? Also, you have to consider when the leadoff HRs came in the game to add to the big innings. I would imagine that they came in the mid-late innings where you have a tired SP and are getting into the BPs.

Just my two cents.

See you all tomorrow.

GL tonight.
