I have been an "A/V junkie" for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid I was mixing vinyl records onto 8-track or cassette. In fact, I was tinkering with my Dad's reel-to-reel tape recorder when I was very young. Eventually, I grew up, but my yearning for A/V hardware to dazzle the senses has never ceased. During college when I was majoring in Recording Engineering, I started my own mobile DJ business complete with a pair or Technics 1200 turntables (what else?), Numark mixer, and a pair of Cerwin-Vega speakers with 18" subs. Talk about rockin' the house. I was! Literally.
I was also a musician throughout Jr. High, High School, and part of college. Pairing that experience along with my hand-dandy computer skills only made me more of a "junkie". (Actually, I prefer the term "guru".) Today, I work for a software company whose product gives the broadcast industry the ability to capture and storyboard audio and video on-the-fly. Very cool.
Times sure have changed. Now I can download MP3's from the internet and burn my audio CD's using my HTPC as well as watch my favorite movies from my own personal DVD Library. As a kid, I never thought things would be like this! What a wonderful time to be alive! And the technology of audio/video certainly has certainly matured since my days of dubbing from vinyl to 8-track. But my love for it has only grown. Touching and yet pathetic at the same time, isn't it?
Below is my current list of ever growing equipment to satisfy my needs.
Thanks for reading this corny monologue.
