youngstown -6:

dukes start one player w/ div 1 experience along w/ three frosh and a juco transfer, due to several starters being out from on-campus shooting incident couple of months ago when several players were wounded. penquins won by 21 in youngstown last year. also season opener for the duke while ytown has played a couple, including michigan st.

YSU projected starters: Forwards John Barber (6-6 junior) and Colin LaForme (6-10 junior); guards Quin Humphrey (6-4 senior), Byron Davis (6-2 junior) and Keston Roberts (6-4 junior)
Duquesne projected starters: Forwards Robert Mitchell (6-6 freshman), Scott Grote (6-6 freshman) and Stephen Wood (6-3 freshman); guards Aaron Jackson (6-2 sophomore) and Reggie Jackson (5-10 junior)

Coaches: Jerry Slocum is 8-22 in his second year at YSU and 588-346 in 32 seasons overall. Ron Everhart is in his first season at Duquesne and is 174-172 in 13 seasons overall.

Notes: Duquesne leads the series, 8-2, but the Penguins won last year, 72-51, at Beeghly Center, the Dukes' first trip to Youngstown in 55 years. ... Humphrey is averaging 23.5 points and 6 rebounds in the Penguins' first two games. He's shooting 50 percent (6-for-12) from 3-point range. ... Davis is averaging 10 points per game ? he had 18 against Michigan State ? and Barber is averaging 7.5. ... Duquesne is 75-15 all-time in season openers and 70-4 in home openers. ... The Dukes start just one player (Jackson) who has started a Division I game. Mitchell, Grote and Wood are true freshmen and Reggie Jackson is a junior college transfer. Aaron Jackson was one of five players shot in a campus incident Sept. 17. The other four ? Sam Ashaolu, Stuard Baldanado, Kojo Mensah and Shawn James ? all remain out. Ashaolu is still recovering in a Pittsburgh hospital. Also, Kieron Achara, a 6-9 junior, is out 6-to-8 weeks with stress fractures in his left foot.
