Are Americans this stupid? When i hear talk like this i think Giuliani will be the next President. Will this same 52% like paying $5.00 an gal for gas? Having their kids drafted for a war in Iran? If the Republicans pull this off the American public deserve what happens to it.

Zogby Poll: 52% Support U.S. Military Strike Against Iran

Most see Clinton as the presidential candidate best equipped to deal with Iran, followed by Giuliani and McCain?but many express uncertainty

A majority of likely voters ? 52% ? would support a U.S. military strike to prevent Iran from building a nuclear weapon, and 53% believe it is likely that the U.S. will be involved in a military strike against Iran before the next presidential election, a new Zogby America telephone poll shows.

Want to see the subgroups that pushed support for U.S. military strike against Iran over 50%? Full cross tabulation data now available

The survey results come at a time of increasing U.S. scrutiny of Iran. According to reports from the Associated Press, earlier this month Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice accused Iran of "lying" about the aim of its nuclear program and Vice President Dick Cheney has raised the prospect of "serious consequences" if the U.S. were to discover Iran was attempting to devolop a nuclear weapon. Last week, the Bush administration also announced new sanctions against Iran.

You say this like your not a American. This is
just 52 per cent of Americans.

who are you anyways.

What your not thinking about is what will happen if Iran is allowed to obtain a nuke weapon and have a missle capable of reaching Israel. ( thanks N Korea, China, russia )

They will be capable of single handedly starting WWIII.

That is what the world cannot tolerate.

Having a nuclear weapon in house is one thing.

Nukes in the hands of nuts is a whole nother ball game.

Catch my drift there Spyguy

Wonder what percentage think Iran was responsible for "9/11" (ie, the World Trade Center demolitions, a Mossad production).

Bush is not capable of starting WWIII? Who's invading countries and killing their citizens? If the Bush government is worried about nukes they better turn their attention to Pakistan who's a bomb away from government change, and they have nukes.

How about some independent thought, not the party line. Bush was saying the thing about Iraq, now they remove the name Iraq and insert Iran, and you fall for it again. I bet if there were no the limits on President terms, Bush would remain in office for a very long time while people watch him destroy the country but still vote for him. What is wrong with America?

Abizaid: A 50-Year War in Mideast
Thursday, Nov. 01, 2007 By AP Article ToolsPrintEmailSphereAddThisRSS

(PITTSBURGH) ? It might take as long as half a century before U.S. troops can leave the volatile Middle East, according to retired Army Gen. John Abizaid.

"Over time, we will have to shift the burden of the military fight from our forces directly to regional forces, and we will have to play an indirect role, but we shouldn't assume for even a minute that in the next 25 to 50 years the American military might be able to come home, relax and take it easy, because the strategic situation in the region doesn't seem to show that as being possible," Abizaid said Wednesday at Carnegie Mellon University.

Abizaid, the former commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East, stepped down in March as the longest-serving commander of U.S. Central Command. He retired from the Army in May and now is at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.

The rise of Sunni extremism, burgeoning Shi'ite extremism, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the world economy's dependency on Mideast oil will keep Americans in the Middle East for a long time, he said. "I'm not saying this is a war for oil, but I am saying that oil fuels an awful lot of geopolitical moves that political powers may have there," Abizaid said. "And it is absolutely essential that we in the United States of America figure out how, in the long run, to lessen our dependency on foreign energy."

He reiterated comments made in September that the U.S. needs to do a better job of coordinating economic, political and diplomatic means so the conflict can move from a military to a political issue. "I would characterize what we're doing now as 80 percent military, 20 percent diplomatic, economic, political, educational, informational, intelligence, etc.," Abizaid said. "You've got to take that equation and change it. Make it 80 percent those other things."

Abizaid, who has dubbed the current conflict "The Long War," told The Associated Press in September it will take three to five years before Iraq's government is stable enough to operate on its own.

Despite the strain on the armed forces, Abizaid said Wednesday it is important to maintain a professional military without re-establishing a draft.

If i were head of the Iranian government, i would want nukes too, because having Americans on my borders is a threat, you can never tell when they might want to invade. Americans didn't like Cuba placing nukes 90 miles from Florida. No matter how long the US stays in Iraq, Iraq will never sign over their oil rights to them. Just the same way Iran didn't and the US destroy their democratically elected government for it (operation north woods). Did you see the story of the US diplomats bitching because they don't want to go to Iraq, they called it a death sentence yesterday. Hey next time mind who you vote for, now go get your plane ticket.

The times, they sure are a changing. I remember the good old days around this site, when Hellah 10 was run out of here for posting anti-american propaganda. These days, I need to wade waist deep through the anti-american muck anytime I enter the political forum.

I still think he was right. He got to see first hand what was going on and stated his mind. I tend to believe people like that.

I'am from Jersey, born and raised, i also spent 20 years in the US military, but you know that means nothing if you're not a suck up for Bush and that's makes you unAmerican. How many of you Republicans will be willing to go down and signup tomorrow if Iran is attack? This week you heard diplomats bitching about having to go to Iraq, everybody's all for war until THEY have to go. Your fearless leaders George WT Bush (WT is for water torture) and Dickhead 5 military defernments Cheney, are a good example of what all republicans are all about. Americans are all busy and the war is something that is just on the news. Bring back the draft and you're see some real bitching. Let the government pull you out of your important life and send you to Iraq or Iran to have your limbs blown off, you'll see protests you never dreamed of.

hmmmmm....that sure doesn`t sound like it came from an american......"are americans that stupid?"...."Having "their kids" drafted for a war in Iran? If the Republicans pull this off "the American public" deserve what happens to it."...

the phraseology sounds more like someone who`s not an american...."their kids"?....sounds alot like someone describing something other than something they are a part of.....

i believe you live here....but you`re the very antithesis of an american....

although,i have to admit, you do have a sort of folksy charm about you.....in a freddy krueger kinda` way...

If you are not republican, you are unAmerican! If you don't want war, when there is no need for one, you're unAmerican. If you want war but don't want to send your kids, you're a republican. George WT Bush better make his move soon because he's only got 14 months left.

Bin Laden wanted oil to be $200.00 a barrel, Bush has doubled what it was since in office. Looks like they are working hand in hand. Bombing Iran, you can good bye to 2 or 3 aircraft carriers in the gulf, that about 6,000 to 10,000 US deaths in a few days, what American can be in favor of this?

first off...bin laden wanted clinton killed.....bin laden and al qaeda were at war with us before bush ever got a whiff of the whitehouse....

for chrissake, the 9/11 plot was hatched before bush took office....

do a little reading.....

bin laden doesn`t tell us who our friends should be....he doesn`t tell us who we can do business with...he doesn`t make our foreign policy...nor does he make kuwait`s`s,egypt`s,jordan`s,the uae etc....

so f-ck bin laden....he can continue to sit in his cave, tell you how to beat your wife, and instruct idiots like yourself to shit facing away from mecca and to wipe your ass with stones...

you want oil prices to go down?....then lets start drilling off the gulf of mexico....for god`s sake, castro`s selling oil rights right off our coast to china so they can drill for oil...

you think china gives 2 shits about ecology?...you think they`d be as considerate of the environment as we would?....

let`s head up to alaska and use some of our resources before all the ice melts due to global warming:SIB ..... while we look for alternatives to middle eastern and venezuelan oil.....

lets build some nuclear plants....lets be proactive....instead of wringing our hands like victims and continually hamstringing ourselves....
