Iowa(-145) Ov7' Wins (1*)

Iowa(-22') over Miami (Ohio) (1*)

Iowa(+4) over Iowa State (1*)

2018 NCAA Regular Season YTD: 98-109 (-22.09*)
2018-2019 NCAA Bowl Season YTD: 12-11 (+0.24*)

2018 NFL Regular Season YTD: 88-63 (+19.74*)
2018-2019 NFL Postseason YTD: 2-9 (-7.95*)

ODDS and ENDS:

(1) I have accurate annual capping records going back to the 2003 season, and I will post the records after I find the spare time to track the pieces down, in a few of my old posts, or a few of my old self-directed e-mails (where I saved them).

(2) When I find my prior records, they will show the NFL postseason has consistently been a strength of my football capping. That is, except for the last two years, especially the disaster from last season. I don?t think it?s a coincidence that my change in fortunes coincides with two straight seasons in which the Packers were struggling late in the season, and my usually keen interest in everything NFL in December and January was sadly absent.

(3) I?ve been extremely busy at work, and with personal obligations, for the last few weeks, and this week will be more of the same as I prepare to leave on a six day vacation on Friday . . .And while I?m sure most of the forum has been anxiously preparing for the start of a new football season, any real time I have spent on capping during the last month has been devoted to building on a successful golf season to date, after a great golf season last year . . . And any of my occasional reading and research about football since camps opened has really not ventured beyond the 32 NFL teams and the 16 Big Ten Teams . . . Going on vacation next Friday won?t help me get up to speed . . . Anyway . . .

(4) I?ll be dipping my toes in the water at least a bit slower than usual this season, maybe a lot slower, but not for long. ANGLES and INFORMATION are out there for every game, and as I see things that appeal I?ll be pulling the trigger . . . While I LOVE and follow all sports, including Olympic events and hockey and bowling and women?s soccer to name just a few (the real reality shows), I don?t waste much time or effort trying to wager on basketball or baseball or the like, but my radar is ALWAYS up for what looks like an opportunity to make a golf or football wager, and move on to the next.

(5) IMO Iowa has been on a sustained recruiting run as rich as any in the 21 year Kirk Ferentz era. If QB Nate Stanley?s senior season fails to achieve 8 wins, no question I will consider the season one of the most disappointing in the 21 year Ferentz era.

- - Four days ago Iowa State was a 4 point favorite. Now Iowa is a 2' point favorite. A line movement like that through meaningful numbers after one team plays one game (against Rutgers mind you) is possibly unprecedented when not based on injury, suspensions, etc.

I have NEVER seen Iowa State -4. Certainly not in Las Vegas. Iowa State opened up at -1 1/2. Where did you see Iowa state at -4?

Junkyarddog:

During August I have been going ?back and forth? with an Iowa State fan in my office about my surprise that Iowa State was generally a 2' to 3 point favorite across the board if you wanted to make a wager on this game as one of the season?s ?marquee games? that had posted lines available before the opening week of the season.

But at the William Hill sportsbook here in Iowa, the line had climbed to Iowa State(-4) on the day Iowa played it?s opener against Miami(Ohio), and Iowa State played its opener against Northern Iowa, which is when I made my Iowa(+4) wager, and posted the play here in my Madjack?s thread.

A line on that marquee game has been consistently available at William Hill without interruption since the season started, and it was still parked at Iowa State(-4) as of 5:00 a.m. on Friday before the Iowa vs. Rutgers game (which is a line I assume was fairly consistent with any lines on this ?marquee game? that were still offered at that moment anywhere else in the U.S.A. or world).

I then headed to Minnesota last Friday, and the casino ?geofencing? cut me off from access to logging into my William Hill account until I returned to Iowa yesterday.

Notwithstanding the fact that when the lines came out on Sunday for this week's entire NCAA card, the game might have then opened at Iowa State(-1'), the fact is yesterday I accurately posted that . . .

Hope that helps.
