Why is America so spoiled with low gas prices?

News came out this morning that gas prices could reach their highest levels ever in the US after futures prices jumped a dime yesterday. Wah. Thats all I have to say is WAHHHHH. We have gotten so pitifully used to paying under $2 a gallon for premium that we have no idea what its like to buy gas in the rest of the world, most strikingly Europe. Want expensive gas? Live over there for a while. You want to know why they have some of the smallest most fuel efficent cars over there, its because they pay $4+ per gallon of gas. Ridiculous. One of the women on the news was driving an Excursion and complaining about the price of gas as she had to pay $44 to fill up. Freaking laughable.

Now I love SUVs and wouldnt mind having an H2 as getting 10mpg would be OK for my 3 mile commute. Well I dont know that I necessarily love all SUVs, but I certainly am for freedom of choice in a capitalistic society and am not like the tree hugging nazi truck-haters I walked by today at the White House who want to turn all our cars into a Toyota Prius. But lady, you made your own bed learn to lie in it a little before pissing and moaning.

Comletely agree, Ace. People in this country need to recognize if they make a choice to drive gas guzzlers, it is expensive.

I also have to make a comment. It is amazing how relentless P2 is on your ass. It has to be nerve racking, but from this end it is quite humorous. Sorry.:shrug:

Why don't people car pool or use public transportation? I work from home, so I am lucky. I fill my car up once every 4-6 weeks. But that is a choice that I made. It saves my wife and I about $90 a month with me working here.

I'm in mexico. Same price all over the country as the government has a monopoly on gas. You would think gas would be cheaper here as they are one of the biggest oil producers in the world.

Regular...... $2.26 a gallon
Premimum...$2.42 a gallon

Think about this. It takes an average person here about an hour and 20 minutes to earn enough money for a gallon of regular gas.

That sign should add the white house to there list. Based on inflation starting with 22 cents a gallon 1960. We should be at $1.27. Thats experts talking not me. I dont think anyone would be to ticked at that or even $1.37. After that someones screwing somebody. It's more about the game they play. We were at $147 here 12 days ago. 5 days later $1.54 1 day later $1.55. 2 days after that $1.57. Yesterday the world must have ended someplace because now it's $1.65. Sorry thats BS. Why do I follow it this close. Becasue there is a committie in this town following prices. Our news paper has them there everday. It all got started because one out fit has 70% of the 112 stations in our area. Folks want to see if they care to go there or some where else.
