I am a believer in fixed outcomes of high profile games. Always have been, always will be. That last "leaping" call is the perfect example. We will have plenty more to discuss come NBA season. The last minute of those games are always fun. As for who stands to gain the most, no one in this thread has yet to mention the officials.......................

The Bucs didn't even bother to rush Manning in the after the 1st half, they were probably in it too.

OK now I'm a believer ....

OK now I'm a believer ....

Was one of those who thought you were crazy Jimizeus, but after watching that it sure seemed like someone? wanted Indy to win this game once it got down to the end. Not something that could be fixed in advance, but once the situation came up ..... ??? Who knows the motivation or logic behind the ref who called that penalty on Simeon Rice.

In reply to kickserve, this thread may very well be dumb, but be that as it may i want to preface this by saying that i respect your opinions. But you cannot deny that certain high profile sports games cannot be fixed. Maybe tonights game was, maybe it wasn't. That's completely irrelevant to the point im trying to make. I had the Colts +4 and 2h tonight, so I'm not one to bitch. Maybe I got lucky, or maybe I was on the right side of the money. Either way I know I'll never find out.

What I do know for a fact is that 8 or 10 years ago, ASU had players arrested for point shaving. The average books take on a crappy tuesday night college basketball game at the time was near 10k give or take i was told. Now all of a sudden they are getting 300k on one meaningless game. The game got redflagged and all bets nulled, and then later the players got busted and the NCAA has been trying like hell to outlaw gambling on its games. Good luck, you can kiss your viewer ratings good bye then, but thats another point.

All I'm saying to you kick is that you cannot be so blind to say that games aren't fixed because it has happened before. Why do I and so many others look heavily into line movement as a capping tool. This game very well could not have been fixed. Some real questionable stuff went on, but its possible weird stuff happens all the time. But to blindly say sports are NEVER EVER fixed would be doing yourself an injustice. It has obviously happened before and will obviously happen in the future. Like I said, I cashed tonight, so I'm not bitching about anything. We can discuss this further during the NBA season as we watch the last two minutes of an 11 point game. Like I said, no disrespect intended. Now go study your tennis and find me a winner..

should have been more clear......was referring to pro North American sports...not NCAA....that's a different story..but in 2003 there is no way in hell the NHL, NBA, MLB, or NFL is going to rig a game..........way way way to much to lose.........that's why this forum is dumb.............not even worth talking about.......

Hey just my opinion, but I'd believe Bob Saget was a funny comedian before I'd believe there's some sort of conspiracy :)

first of all, let me say that I don't believe that games are "fixed". that being said, I must admit there are some very strange circumstances and calls that really make you wonder. I bet on Tampa Bay last night -4.5 straight and played Tampa -4.5 and over 37 parlay. when the score was 21-0 and then 35-14, I must say I was feeling pretty good... if I hadn't seen the last 3:00 minutes of this game with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it!!! my stomach was turning and believe me, I've taken some BAD beats before. but come on, 4 touchdowns in one quarter? on the road? Tampa had only given up 4 touchdowns in the fourth quarter of all their games combined this season! nobody that played Indy can say they deserved to win. congrats, if you had them, but you will lose more of these than you will ever win. bitter? sore loser? I think not...been doing this for too long for that. just had to get this rant in. that's what I enjoy about this place, people can say what's on their mind and discuss views.ect. :p

SKAN MAN is Right--BOXING?

SKAN MAN is Right--BOXING?

Boxing is the most rigged.
They should be ashamed they way they called that Lennox Lewis/Holyfield fight a draw a few years ago.

Anyone Remember Sonny Liston?

As far as The NBA---it's loaded with all kinds of gangsta rapper thugs. and you just don't know what they do off the court.
and the NBA is steered by the commish and other outside entities.
NBA players are so overated today !

How about Harness Racing ! Holy Freehold !.. They destroyed Yonkers Raceway with the drugs and corruption.

Years ago there was The South American Ringer that ran at Aqueduct/Belmont. But they got caught.

Anyway, the point is, we know about the ones that got caught, what about the ones that don't get caught?

Has there been any NFL or any major sport players convicted about fixing a game ? At least in English Premiere League ( soccer  ) Liverpools gaolkeeper Bruce Grobbellaar was busted about fifteen years ago and a few years ago some eastern mafiagang had remote control installed in some of the stadiums elecricity system: when bet was going to loose they just cut off elecricity and game was cancelled and money returned...

that all above is true

how about Jagr's gambling ? Do i score a goal in this game yes +150 no -something well, nou ? :D

Yeah, and even more strange is that they were tied at the time. Really weird comment by the announcer.

Could they have been talking about OT dut to the fact that there was minimal scoring in the game? I often hear the guys in the booth say something about OT when the game is slow paced......this was no different.

Any one who thinks games (in ANY sport) are fixed obviously is an idiot and shouldn't gamble. They also don't understand how Vegas books work. In over 90% of all the action the games are evenly booked on both sides and Vegas or any other book couldn't give a rat's ass who covers as they just sit back and collect the vig. In those rare instances when they have a lopsided game they win some and lose some but in the end those even out.

This is perhaps the biggest myth out there....Vegas, sportsbooks, etc, they all want a side on the game. If all they did was collected the vigorish on bets, regardless of the money bet, they would not have a lucrative operation. Say $6mil is bet on a Sunday at any particular sportsbook, and they have even $$ on both sides....600K for the day? Doesn't seem worth it, because in that "rare instance when they have a lopsided game" they'd probably be in some trouble, given the volume of betting going on. Vegas throws out a number that they hope the public will bite on. The professional gamblers, wiseguys, etc. pound the # when it's first posted...these are the ppl Vegas are scared of...not the rest of the general public. Anyways...they want an edge on every single game. If they wanted even $$ on both sides, the lines would be much more realistic.

Yeah...the 90% evenly booked action couldn't be further from the truth.

I agree tough to get to these over payed players. Well some are not payed much. But the under payed Ref's are easy plucking. MAYBE? A no call on Rice last night would have been correct. And it would not have effect outcome of the game. But it did. Now would have TBay ever covered. Or just kicked there own FG. I guess 75% of the time in OT they kick. Looks like TB should have played alittle better last 4:38 seconds. I like those 4.5 points. But I must say I was on wrong side. But got a lucky break called the Ref. Or was it fixed.

The NFL refs make good money, not to mention they are all mostly lawyers or work in professional fields outside of their NFL work.
