2-1 on thursday but seems like ive lost my magic on the totals. after ripping off 13 of 14 totals, i think im like 1 for my last 4. undeterred- i really like this total:

__________________________________________________

(stronger) butler/uw-green bay under 118

* call it what you want. being stubborn or whatever. but im coming back with butler under the # right after they smashed the total the other night against youngstown. i think that was more of a case of ysu just being awful and terrible defensively. numbers havent changed:

* even with the ysu/butler game going over- that puts the butler over/under in the horizon tourney the last 4 years at EIGHT unders and just TWO overs.

* a cursory glance would show the season series being split (as far as the total goes). but the 2h of their first meeting was really weird. lots of fouling at the end that accounted for a ton of points.

but the halftime scores of the two games this year:

12/22......butler 25 uwgb 24
1/10........butler 24 uwgb 24

* these are two of the best scoring defenses in not just the horizon but the entire country. if this game doesnt land around 108-110 id be very surprised.

loyola-chicago (+8) over detroit

east tennessee state moneyline (-200) over davidson

ut-chatanooga 2h (pk) (+100) over georgia southern

utah state/idaho 2h under 63

loyola-chicago (+8) over detroit

* i think the ramblers are a little better than their record would indicate. their win in wright state in the opening round wasnt a huge upset to me. this team can score. their problems are on the defensive end. but theyve played the titans very tough this year, winning outright in chicago (80-77) and losing 69-62 in detroit in a game that was tied at halftime. both teams are used to going deep into the horizon league tourney. i think this one stays very close throughout

east tennessee state moneyline (-200) over davidson

* grabbing the moneyline doesnt make me any less confident about them being able to cover the 4.5- i still think they can defeat davidson soundly. but these southern conference games can get a little wacky. lots of teams making 15-3, 17-2 type runs during games. when its all said and done- etsu is the class of this conference and im willing to lay 2/1 that they advance. with them losing to charleston the final weekend of the regular season, they know they now have no chance of an at-large bid and their only hope of getting back is to win the conference tourney. davidson no pushover, but etsu just has a lot more firepower

winder:

the number does seem a little low. i figured low 130s would make more sense. detroit/loyola met in this round of the horizon tourney last year and they played a track meet (90something- 80something). by and large though, detroit really likes to slow the tempo in tourney games though (similar to butler). im expecting this one to be like 69-64 or thereabouts. one caveat though: detroits defense has been amazing lately. theyve let up more than 60 points just once in their last NINE game. pretty impressive.

every now and then, the trash from other sites make their way here. this putz will last about a few days tops. he figures taking my first name- twisting it around a little bit, registering under it, and then patronizing me is funny. im not worried- like i said, he'll ban himself. its no coincidence that his first post was a shit-starter. he'll throw a token play up just to look like hes contributing. but its the same guy jack has banned repeatedly. its amazing that some guys are really this bored with their lives that theyll repeatedly register to start shit....after theyve been banned and banned.

gl today

thanks gman2. you're nothing but a class act. not sure why someone would want to bash you. your numbers speak for themself. AND, you never gloat about your wins. i posted a while back about how i've been blindly playing your picks due to lack of time (kids, travel, wife's health issues, etc). thanks for all you do!!

those are two tough games. cant say i have an opinion on the william mary game. dont really have an opinion on the maac game either but i would lean toward taking the points. loyola maryland seemed to show some improvement within the last month or so. kind regressed to close out the seasons final week, but they at least competed late in the season and they could hang the number. im not touching either though.

g..

best of luck today..im leaning the other way with the east tenn game...

i may be incorrect but my analysis shows that davidson..went to e tenn st. and gave them all they could handle..losing by 5 ..davidson had 6 free throws in the entire game..and only hit 3...which is a bit out of character for them....e tenn. st. had 21 free throws....i dont think that type of disparity is going to happen on a neutral court...niether team dominted the other on the boards...

i understand the logic in your play....but as far as the motivation is concerned that could be said for both teams...

best of luck gman..

Davidson looks like shit. Their only chance coming in was to nail the three ball with gusto and they are not getting it done.

I've seen too much crap in my day to mail this one in ,but ETSU is superior in every aspect.
