4-1 friday. still trying to figure out how butler/uwgb went over after 46 1h pts.
already played these three:
* akron (-2.5) over buffalo
* oregon/ucla over 142
* auburn (-4.5) over lsu
also definitely playing this one no matter what the line:
*detroit (+anything) over wisconsin-milwaukee
*waiting to see if a better # becomes available on washington. line got hit from 5 down to 3.5. hoping it settles back around 4 or 4.5
*considering bowling green and marshall as well
*expecting to play the etsu/ut-chat game as well as the horizons
akron
*zips have had a very favorable schedule to close the season. have only played one game a week for the last 3 weeks. theyve been off since last sundays victory over kent. i think its important for two reasons: that win over their biggest rival gives akron a lot of confidence but it also gives them a full week to put the game behind them and not come out flat for a mid-week game. buffalo playing well, but look at the majority of the teams theyve beaten lately. a lot of mac bottom-feeders. almost 2/3rds of their winning streak has been against teams with records below .300. akron has been solid at home- with their last legitimate home loss being against bg in early january. ill wait to buy into the bulls revival.
auburn
*killingsworth back for the tigers which will help auburn a lot. but this is mainly a play against lsu. tigers traveling after their come-from-behind win the other night when they scored just 10 points in the 1h of their game vs ole miss. tigers responded with a furious rally in the final 10:00 for the comeback win, but now they travel and this is where i think the loss of lloreda really shows up. auburn capable of winning this convincingly.
detroit
*have no idea what the line is.......but im playing it regardless
give me perry watson and ANY points in the horizon tourney and ill grab em every time. its not often that detroit gets beat soundly...and thats what happened last meeting and in calihan no less. detroit allowed a season high 85 points to the panthers. that aint happenin again. it can be argued that embarrassing loss turned the titans season around. detroits defense has been amazing lately. during this ten game winning streak detroit is on, they have let up just 50.6 ppg. thats ridiculous- and thats what wins championships in the horizon league. panthers have really backed into the #1 seed in this horizon tourney, losing 3 of their L4 games. titans getting great contributions from a different player every game. warren is capable of carrying the load, but on friday it was jimmy twyman's 26 that carried 'em. detroit wins and plays for the horizon championship on tuesday.
