Pardon the Interruption just did a ranking of the most popular sports in the USA. They ranked the top 5. This is not your favorites, but what sports are the most popular in today's society.

The choices alphabetical:
Golf (PGA)
Major League Baseball (MLB)
Major League Soccer (MLS)
NASCAR
NBA
NCAA Hoops (NCAAB)
NCAA Football (NCAAF)
NFL
NHL

Wilbon's ranking:

2. College Hoops
3. College Football
4. NASCAR
5. NBA

Kornheiser:
1. NFL
2. College Hoops
3. MLB
4. College Football
5. NASCAR

dawgball's rankings:

wow, how bad has the nba dropped off of people's radar? I guess it depends on the area, I've always been a huge knicks fan because I cheered for them as a Ny'er my whole life, i guess if you grow up somewhere not ny,la,chicago you may not be, But to put nascar ahead of it, guess to each's own, I have a tough time ranking them, I like nba nfl college football and college basketball and golf, so it's tough

1)NFL
2) MLB
3)NBA
4)College Hoops/College Football
5) Golf(to watch, playing would be #1)

I think some of you guys are misunderstanding what they were trying to do. They were trying to rank the overall popularity in the US, not what your personal preference is. I can hardly watch NASCAR, but the ratings and attendence figures don't lie. I don't think there can be much question that, overall, NASCAR is more popular than the NBA right now. That's what my list was.

My list for personal preference is:

College Football
NFL
College Basketball
MLB
College Hockey

My #4 in my original list should have been College football, not Hoops. Sorry.

My personal preference (where I figured this thread would end up anyway) is:

1. College football
2. NFL (in recent years has taken over NCAAB)
3. College hoops
4. Golf
5. EPL Soccer

If World Cup was not just every four years and qualified, this would be #1.

Hockey, be it college or NHL, would unquestionably be No. 1 on my list of sports to watch live. I personally feel football is 100 times better on TV than in person.

NHL is good live IF you have good seats, but who the fawk can afford really good seats   Islanders and Rangers run a boatload....Footballs cool in person but WAY too many tv timeouts kill the game, lotta time with hands on your hips, College basketball is very good in person depending on the venue, college sports in general are better in person, assuming it's a cool venue
