First of all, apologies to IE who will probably hate this post.

Mr. H, I have to tell you about playasap.com. It is a new book. Rick from All World went there. I know there is always some worry when a new book opens up, so for both you and any other players, I would be cautious if you plan on playing there. Maybe even talk to kosar because I know he is a bit negative about the place.

That said, for folks like you who like to bet odd lines you gotta check them out. Every hockey total had at least -220 juice today with no worse than a 4% house hold. For example NYR ov 6 +180, un 6 -220. I wanted to play over but I want to wait a bit to see how things develop with this new book. You should see these oddball lines, though. I know you play stuff like that sometimes so I wanted to let you know.

For those that don't know, Rick is apparently a long time bookmaker both here and offshore. He most recently worked at All World. According to many people in the biz he is one of the best guys around. I apologize in advance if anyone views this as spamming. I am not getting anything from asap in any way. I am just posting this because I know some players like variety in the types of bets they make and this book looks like it is going to be a reliable book that will offer that type of variety.

Tony,

Guy on the phone earlier today said the web design was incomplete. Said they are not even ready to do online deposits, lol. Mostly a credit shop right now.

Rick claims they are going to hold player funds in some kind of third party account but I don't know the status. Waiting 18 months is probably a smart move, but I might give them a try and deposit enough to make one play.

Thanks for the post Nick. While I am known for taking chances & playing at books that would qualify as risky, I think I'll take a wait & see approach with this operation. If you do go ahead & test the waters, let us all know how it turns out.

It comes down to being able to get funky lines like this at a book like 5 Dimes & they are in my top 4 of books on every level so I don't need to take a chance at this place.

nick, sure sounds like you read MW (rick's friends). you are almost starting to sound like those guys over there. i've been around this business for 8 years and keep hearing about how "stand-up" rick is and how great he is, but the 2 or maybe it's 3 books that i know he was with went down or had big problems. rick's fault? hmmmmm
how many times can you blame it on the investors. he does run these places, right?

just my subtle opinion.

Jack,

I did read about the book at MW and at Peep's Place. I called them because I was curious and I thought that spreading the word about a book that might offer unique betting lines might be appreciated by some posters.

Maybe I didn't express the idea that a person should be cautious strongly enough. I referenced the fact that kosar had reservations about the book for precisely the reason Jack posted. It is a brand new book so who knows what's going to happen? I figured maybe some bonus hunters or people looking for oddball lines who are willing to take a risk might find the info useful. As I said in my post, I was tempted to try them because of the way they deal hockey totals but for now I am happy with CRIS.

And Jack, that opinion ain't subtle ;). I agree that the bookmaker has to take the blame when a book goes down along with the investors. I mean, hey, if the linesmaker was making the investors money, they wouldn't bail, right? I believe I read that people got paid from the books that went down but I am not sure.

Good point about 5 dimes. I haven't funded my account there in a while and I might do so. Was leaning to Sirbet for baseball, though, because of that low juice. I felt like an idiot last season because I only found out about Sirbet after the playoffs had already started.
