damn sixfive- all of this over $1000 if you go back and read the intitial post , he has no credit , in the minus in his back account and needs $1000. I didn't mean for my post to be "too" smartazzed , but my guess would be that this guy is "into some one" for $1000 and didn't admit it!!!!!!!! If thats the case bcoogda1 this would be much better advice .................IMO

said he had no money and no credit and needed a grand. Didn't see he was in it with a bookie, but you will see that I did recommend not gambling. U might think my advice is stupid, but I can guarantee you that being in debt is what Americans are taught to do. Hell, just get another credit card and put all your debt on there or get a consolidation loan. We have all these jillions of people in debt past their nose who only have enough to get by to the next check and most of that is because they have too much junk, too much debt, and don't make wise spending decisions. He can do what he will, but if my advice is followed, he won't be in debt. This is a sore subject with me because I work with so many young people and see so many of them screw up. I walk what I talk too, no debt. I don't have speedboats and new cars, but I do have peace of mind and sleep soundly at night. gL!

smart post, probably from a pretty smart guy. I see a lot of my friends in debt from CREDIT CARDS, not paying bills, spending over there heads, screwing up their credit, etc.

This is a reason I have NO credit cards and balance my checkbook on a daily basis. I know my first post was just to poke fun, but here are some things you can do and should do if you really want to save some greenbacks. Trust me, I know because I just paid cash for an engagement & wedding rings.

1. Get a job if you don't already have one

2. Get a second weekend job if you already have a M-F 9-5 job i.e. waiting tables, bartending.

3. Go to the grocery store for food (not beer), not out to expensive restaurants. Buy some sandwich meat and some bread and some other things so you can bring your lunch to work, this will save you money.

4. Clean out your house to find things you don't use/don't want and put it up for auction on ebay - you would be amazed at some of the junk that goes for $$$ on there.

5. You might want to cancel your cable service (regular TV is not going to kill you, and usually its pretty good).

6. Don't go out to the bars/sporting events/theatres. Instead you might want to take a walk in the park or something similar (I find walking in the park very relaxing).

7. Balance your checkbook everyday. Make sure you keep a close eye on it, this has always helped me in the past.

8. Don't go buying lottery tickets like I said in my first post, it was a joke. No other gambling either.

You've got some good advice here in these previous posts, take it for what its worth.

Hope this helps..................................

The thing that really gets me about c.cards and I have my fair share but are used for business and pay all the bills of the house on another then just write one lump sum check at the end of the month, But they go into all the colleges and universities in the us and give them to young college freshmen it is called , dang forget the name of the program, but my point is they give these college kids c.cards don't have to have a job and lets face it in college most people if they have it it will get used and used fast and you can get like 3 or 4 in ayear from different banks and compines, and they know the c.card compines dang well that these young kids will use them and i would say 55-60% will abuse them, have seen it happen as a coach. The c.card compinies know this and either the parent gets stuck with a bill or with in a year or less the student has tapped out a few cards and has themself messed up for the start of their credit life, hate to see anyone get in trouble but is some good advice in this , thread and If it is do to gambling and you are young don't panic like T said call the person be upfront and make a payment each week you can handle not what they want and no-one I mean no-one is going to touch you for less the 25,000 grand and now a days it is hard to get a bookie to let someone bury themself that deep because they know they are not going to see it, not saying it is over a bookie but if it is just call, you might get yelled at but hey all they really want is paid and learn by it. If that is the case.

these c.card hander outs on campus just shock the heck out of me and it is sad and some schools and universities have stopped the compinies from comming on the campus, but it is sad, atm cards are also used to the extream, even though it is you cash you spen more with them then you would if you were counting out the green and seeing it leave your hand, with a swipe of a card it is easy you don't see the cash go out of hand and people should watch them also.

Good Luck and it will work out.
