I assume most people here are for the legalization of gambling in the US or at least against further laws against gambling. I was wondering where most of us stood on prostitution. I see the two issues as being very closely related. At the bad end of the stick on both issues, you have ruined lives, drugs, etc. On the good side of it, you have people that responsibly spend thier money/earn money in a responsible and respectable manner.

I, for one, am one of those guys who would never consider being with a prostitute (completely seperate discussion), but I don't see why it should not be legal.

it's your body...if you want to sell it, why can't ya sell it

I like what Nevada has done (same in Netherlands).....in Nevada there are spots where it is legal......as long as there is a place where it is legal I have no problem with somebody being arrested......it is when there is no place where prostitution is legal that I have a problem with it being a crime. I mean if person "A" wants to sell their body and person "B" wants to buy it......what the hell is the big deal

oh and one side note ..did you know that MALE PROSTITUTION is ILLEGAL in all areas of Nevada...talk about descrimination....female it's ok.......but male it isn't.........talk about a court case...... :nono:

yea, nevada has it right. By making it legal and regulating it with a close watch, you keep the industry a little cleaner. of course prostitution will always go on, people always want the quick "high" of quick sex, it's like smoking crack Im sure, Ive never done it, but they're both quick highs.... gambling on sports theyre stupid to make it illegal, costing states tons in tax revenue, prostitution will never be legal anywhere else though, the moral and religious zealots will have a field day, I can only imagine, god forbid people have rights to make their own choices, according to these people they arent capable of that, lol oh well

This has always bothered me and shows the complete hypocrisy of the left wing women's groups mainly NOW and some others.

When it comes to abortion a women and only the women has the right to do with her body what she wants, but when it comes to prostitution, that right no longer exists as they believe prostitution too demeaning to a women. What happened to the woman making her own choice to do what she wants with her own body:shrug:

Typical left wing logic:confused:

SERIAL KILLERS

Are you kidding me?

Ted Bundy was a serial killer who targeted young, white college girls. I don't think that makes all young, white college girls victims simply by being what they are.

And also, most of those prostitute, serial-killer victims were working out of truck stops and such. If it were legalized, they wouldn't be working there, they would be working in a licensed and regulated place. How often are legal prostitutes in Nevada the victims of a serial killer?

I agree with ctownguy... prostitution should be legal for the same reason abortion should be - women should be able to make their own choices about their bodies.

ctown,

my bet is that you will get more opposition to prostitution (and gambling) from your beloved bible thumping right wingers...

ozball

Oh and the serial killers comment....that happens when prostitution is driven underground. Legal prostitutes are not the easy targets to a killer that the illegal trade is....eg..girls scared to report "bad johns" to the police....

quick facts on legal prostitution in Nevada......

never been a case of HIV since 1987

one case of syphilis since it became legal.

no prostitute ever killed........not even close.....it's the same as some guy jumping onto a strippers stage and killing em.....highly unlikely

in one month the Bunny Ranch (one of the biggies) makes a ton...and I mean a ton of money.........not too mention how much the State makes

and I agree with what ozball said......

Don't want to get deep into this.

Hookers and/or females that tend to go into this line of work are mostly of the same mold. Outcasts for one reason or another. Not involved in a social situation were their welfare is of concern to anyone in particular in their sphere of influence.

You can legalize it or not, they are the strays from the herd to be picked off by societies carnivores.

My brother is a law man here that has worked the hotter districts of our city. I have heard of more than I want to get into on this. ALL INVOLVE PAIN AND LOTS OF BAD.

I have run a business that has crossed many of these territories and know of owners of business'/property in the same exposure level as I have had.

Gamblers/hookers=generally the weak of our society to be preyed on by people of more ability.

If you guys want to legalize weakness. That's your opinion. I don't think weaker minded people should be given that out. It will only lead to their downfall and the weakening of all.

It's all rather simple to me. I have seen a lot in my few years, and thriving off of other's bad traits, or condoning it, is not an option IMO.

Just give the drunk a fifth, the pyro a book of matches, etc etc

Better yet, sell it to them. They know what they are doing right? And you'll make out as well.

I don't see it.

I find the whole thing extremely disgusting.

Intense.......

yes I agree......most involved in LEGAL prostitution are in fact "messed up".......girls abused all their lives.......girls strung out on drugs, etc. etc.

BUT

there are also many that are not...........I know some of them....I know a lady that has three kids and is very happily married who works in Nevada.....I know a girl who is actually putting herself through a doctoral program at Harvard by working in Nevada. Yes as I said.......most are societies outcasts, and most (I'd say 9 outta 10) can not handle it.....but some can. The crap you see on COPS is NOT how it is in a Nevada brothel......if it's regulated you don't have some crack whore begging for a blowjob for 10 bucks. Also, there is the whole safety issue.....the girls are tested constantly, if they have anything they don't work....and condoms are mandatory.

Of course the whole point is..........why can't ya sell your body..it's your body..it really comes down to that.......... :)

and remember there is the whole $$$$$ thing........you wouldn't believe the amount of cash that the state makes from it.mind boggling

so no matter how you spin it...........it's your body....why can't ya sell it

I mean you can sell your blood........what's the difference.....the answer.......NOTHING

if one thinks it's wrong.......that's your opinion......why impose that thought on someone else though

I find it highly ironic that in a country where sex can be given away for free that it is illegal to charge money for it.....

Pick someone up in a bar versus picking them up on a street corner.....

As far as the serial killer thing.....seems to me there will always be that small percentage of predatory people out there that make a hobby of multiple murders.....there are weak people of all varieties from women and children, the elderly......

I don't see the act of legalizing prostitution changing the number of predators out there.........as some other posters already stated....it's awful tough to kidnap, rape, torture, and the kill someone when they are in the confines of a safe and secure brothel.......

We live in a society where nobody takes responsibility for thier actions.....easier to blame the gun than to blame the person who fired the gun......deal with the serial killers that pop up from time to time and let the other millions of people who are responsible about thier lives and the rights of others live thier life.....

ok....let me understand your logic here....you are a self-admitted right winger....BUT...."becasue I'm a Republican, I'm automatically aligned with the bible thumpers"....your words....and which is absolutely understandable....now....my question was improperly phrased....so let me try again....

when did extreme militant feminist dialectic become the predominant all-encompassing left wing sentiment as well....meaning....what makes you think that those on the left share these feminists' viewpoints???

"Typical left wing logic"
