disagree with the victimless crime thing, wholeheartedly, and I don't think it should be made legal. Don't really see where politics falls in either as I would say the great majority on both sides will line up against legalization. I agree that the NOW girls are out there, but I don't agree with the analogy above and abortion. I do agree that the NOW girls persecute the republicans who have indescretions with women, but we don't hear them say much against the democrats who do the same, case in point, Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky. Nothing was said because they supported Mr. Clinton. but they really should have as she was clearly taken advantage of by a very powerful man.
Gambling I have no problem with, prostitution I do, especially the soccer mom with 3 kids and a hubby turning tricks in the LV brothel. That's sick.

Im sure the only reason there both not legal is taxes. Find a way to tax them and there legal in minutes. Even the far right will look the other way if theres money to be made. Them whores would have more money on Sunday for the basket when it's passed.

Would the board be happy if more 12, 13, and 14 year olds became involved and sold their bodies for the pleasure of others?
I can take anyone that wishes to Armitage avenue or off Madison avenue anytime and introduce them to what prostitution is really about.

As legal as booking is in many places, there STILL exists the organized crime aspect and a market for it. It's no different in the world of prostitution.

Personally I am all for legalizing gambling, prostitution in certain zones and legalization of drugs. See, I am not a total left winger, I do have a libertarian strain in me. Do the above three, then perhaps Social Security, Medicare staying fully funded and gosh golly perhaps even free health care for everyone could be a reality.

I believe the behavior we are talking about originates from the term "CONSENTING ADULTS".......
This kind of thing with the young teenagers happens but more so in less developed countries......leave the kiddies out of it until they are old enough to make an informed, adult decision about what they want to do with thier lives....until then they are minors and will just have to wait for thier rights.....
Part of the sleazy and shady atmosphere, the pimps, organized crime........those aspects are created simply because prostitution is illegal.......those who seek out sex for pay have to sneak around behind the laws back to participate........demand creates organizations that cater to the wants of the public......
Look at the days of Al Capone when prohibition was in effect.....people who wanted liquor had to sneak around and drink in private clubs.......mob got into it because there was a great demand for it, prohibition created a black market and lucrative profits for those engaged in the liquor business......
Prohibition was lifted, the mob got out of it because there was no money in it....
Same situation for a number of posters here on this forum who deal with local bookies on a regular basis.......sneak around simply because its illegal here.....
Black Market = Big Profits........Gambling.....Prostitution....Drugs....

The current LEGAL gambling licenses up for sale in Illinois have a lot of "sticky fingers" from organized crime corrupting the whole process for years. The finally have settled on a winning bidder (town) and now another investigation is starting up to see how they could have possibly beat out the other, more attractive communities to win the coveted license.
LEGAL is just a word.

Maybe what I posted was a bit harsh, but if I just landed on earth and this discussion was the first thing I happened upon, I'd think that legalized prostitution helps create serial killers and that conservatives are in a fight to legalize prostitution and gambling.
To answer your question, I'd love to share my thoughts on both issues, but a lot of these reposnses are so far off base that this may not be the best place to do it. Just giving a Cliff's Notes version, it's incredibly naive to call either vice victimless. One also has to remember that a government's job is not just to earn as many tax dollars as possible and to regulate vices. It's more to provide the best possible environment for its citizens.

Thanks for responding Nick. I don't have any pretension of being an expert of this subject. Realize it isn't an entirely victimless crime. This would be true legal or not. Guess it comes down to if you believe society as a whole would degenerate if such things were legal. I personally would like to find out the real facts on Nevada in regards to sex crimes in the counties excluding Clark County before I came to a more conclusive opinion. One thing though in legalization, instead of spending money on locking them up there would hopefully be more money for rehabilitation, counseling and the like. All I know is we have more people in jail then any civilized country and most large cities are still cesspools. What we are doing now isn't working it seems. Open to any ideas.
